Wii U 'not at the same level as PS3, Xbox 360

nterview whit Reggie about wiiu part1 in it he confirms i think it was this interview but he confirms the Wii-u controller uses a CPT single touch screen somewhere int he 3 part thing

He is probably wrong since the wii U has a stylus with a plastic point which a capacitive screen will not recognize.

Agian i call this article just plain BS since for the Wii-u to be behind in power it have to be using a older IBM Power CPU older then the xbox 360 and be a single core chip since the 360 was the first Multi-core Power PC based chip from IBM also GPU wise they could not get away with using a GPU with the power of the chip inside the 360 or lower because it would not have the power to stream all the Data to the controller and if you watch the Experience demos has Reggie from nintendo pointed out in that video interview there is no way specially the garden one the power of the 360 or less could produce that

From Wiki

CPU

The Wii U CPU is designed by IBM. It is described by IBM as an "all-new, Power-based microprocessor",[64] the processor is a multi-core design manufactured at 45 nm with an eDRAM cache. Although neither Nintendo nor IBM has revealed detailed specifications, such as the number of cores, clock rate, or cache sizes, references to the chip containing "a lot" of eDRAM and "the same processor technology found in Watson"[65] indicate that the processor shares some characteristics with IBM's POWER7 processor, which powers the Watson computer system and incorporates a large L3 eDRAM cache.

The Wii U CPU will be produced by IBM at their 300 mm semiconductor manufacturing facility in East Fishkill, New York.[64]

[edit]Technical specifications

Nintendo released technical specifications of the Wii U hardware,[66]

Now, let's turn our attention to the gargantuan 5.3? display of the Galaxy Note. It is, of course, of the capacitive type and utilizes the Super AMOLED technology,

From Wiki

The stylus uses a Wacom digitiser system which results in accurate pressure-sensitive input.[13]

This is to show you that you can have stylus action on a CPT display course this is what nintendo may be doing as well by having a digitzer as well inside

I can't believe anyone would believe this. Most devs have come out and praised the Wii U saying it will in fact help Nintendo get back into the 3rd party business. I give this article as much credibility as I do the stuff from Wiidaily.

Why would nintendo use a cpt screen when their Ds, DSI, and 3ds all use resistive touch screens? I can also post articles on the wii u that state its a resistive screen.

Also the samsung note uses a wacom specific digitizer which make the wii u tablet more expensive

Who cares if you can do cool stuff in conjunction with the Vita? That must be the most expensive console controller in history.

People who've bought it as a gaming device, which it is, not a controller

Will be a bit disappointed if Nintendo after all the money they've made on the Wii gimp out on the hardware of the Wii U - It may be what's 'required' though when you throw in a mandatory tablet controller.

Well the Wii-u controller is not a Tablet since in order for it to work you need to be within 30 ft or more of the console itself . but anyways i think the Wii-u is gonna give a great gaming experiance and i am looking forward to the day it is out

Doomed to fail before it was even born.

"don't count your chickens before they even hatch" comes to mind here

the Wii U may not do the greatest at first, but I don't see it failing by a long shot

I buy every Nintendo console. I just love their first party games and the pricetag of the system is nothing to me compared to the enjoyment i get out of their titles.

I always felt like I had more than enough PC games to keep me happy for my "hardcore" fix. Many great ps3 and 360 games were on pc also. The exclusives on ps3 and 360 were never enough to make me ever consider buying one of those consoles. Of course that would be different if I never was a PC gamer at heart.

There is no way this console will fail. Just look at the Wii. No think about how many wii user's are ready for an upgrade. Even if it doesn't do great in america and europe, it's jap sales will alone make it hugely succesfull.

Doomed to fail before it was even born.

They said that about the Wii too, we know how that story ended....

The moral here? power isn't everything and don't just assume you know the outcome before it happens ;)

People like you said the same about the 3DS. And look how utterly wrong you were and how stupid you ended up looking.

Technically the 3DS did nearly fail, it wasn't till Nintendo drastically dropped the price that sales started to pick up. So granted it's far from a failure right now, but it wasn't a rosy beginning.

Interesting that of all the conflicting rumors of its power(and there's lots of them), we only decide to post one of the bad ones. Standard neowin, i guess.

Is your "start new topic" button broken? You're free to post positive Wii U stories. I guess you're also free to complain about the ones other people are posting too.

Who cares if you can do cool stuff in conjunction with the Vita? That must be the most expensive console controller in history.

You'd be right, if the Vita was sold solely as a controller.

Hoping Nintendo will finally die so I can play some super smash bros. on my xbox. They should just develop games like Sega does now.

Highly doubt this will happen. Nintendo is still very much in the hardware game.

Console with good hardware + tablet controller = expensive

Mediocre console + tablet controller = cheap

Guess which option the mainstream crowd would pick?

Keep in mind, it's not really a proper tablet considering all its graphics processing happens on the WiiU console itself, and is then just streamed over to the controllers (and hence why they're hesitant to let people use more than one of these new controllers at a time - more controllers means more processing power taken away that has to be spent to render each controller screen). So it's just a controller with a screen and a bigger battery :p

Well Wii never has been at the same level as the PS3 and Xbox 360 in terms of graphics.

The Wii maybe, but the WiiU is a different console :p That, and in the previous generation the Gamecube was ahead of the PS2 in the power department (and would have been the most powerful if Microsoft hadn't introduced the Xbox)

"don't count your chickens before they even hatch" comes to mind here

the Wii U may not do the greatest at first, but I don't see it failing by a long shot

I don't see it failing, but i don't consider it a major contender for the hardcore gamers like it's trying to claim. I think purely on the history of the Wii and it's market aims would steer aware the hardcore gaming market, until proving otherwise.

I don't believe about what you said.Wii u is much more powerful than ps3.Wii u is next gen and all next gen are strongly more powerful than past gen.Wii u batman is a launch game and it is equal or even superior than the ps3 version. The wii u has a better cpu/gpu more ram and just wait a year or two and see what wii u games will look like.

About all systems that are next gen are stronger than past gen.

The wii and xbox are almost equal. The wii has a weaker cpu but a stronger gpu than the xbox.

And 1 more thing the tablet/controller give graphics equal to xbox 360 and the wii u and its controller both have advanced shader support.

In my opinion Nintendo consoles have always been fun for first party games and a handful of others, but it pretty much ends there.

So, so true!

here's hoping that will change with the Wii U like Nintendo is promising

 Like they always say! :p

I don't think it's going to happen, but it'd be cool if more than Nintendo actually made some use of the Nintendo ecosystem's uniqueness and its style.

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
