New Mac OS X backdoor Trojan, Sabpab, discovered

There's also not many games in the wild for OS X. I guess that's one of the trade-offs.

More than enough, with even more coming out each passing year. Fortunately the same can't be said of viruses. Nice attempt at trolling.

That comparison is pretty ridiculous.

On a sidenote: Apple's current teams are new to malware fixing (not brand new, but MS sure have a lot more expertise).

To be honest, I can see Apple buying up an AV company easily.

It would stay in the background like Defender on W8 and get updates through a more appropriate and faster channel than Software Update...

Apple would never buy a vendor. That's admitting they have a problem.

No not really that would be a smart move.... then just incorporate it into the next release of OS X and charge more... Then say -- New OS X (insert animal name here)with enhanced security protection ... This would be the real push for old users to upgrade without admitting you have a problem. Just do it but don't openly tell the end user you are installing an antivirus (or rather anti-male-ware) protection. The key would be saying enhanced which is not saying you don't already have security, but leaving you open to the improvements you have done.

I use Common Sense Essentials 2012. It's free and highly effective.

Hey, that's a good one too. I wonder what all this worry is about viruses though. What are people doing to get infected in the first place? The only virus I've ever gotten was in DOS from a game copy protection crack back in 1993.

Part of me wishes Steve was still alive to declare war on Java just like he did Flash. :/

Java needs to go away. I'm sorry to all the Minecraft players out there, but Java needs to die a quick death.

But Apple don't want you to use Java! They want you to build application with xcode (objective C) so they can put your apps on their store and earn 30% of your revenues.

They just can't block it because most users needs it.

Most users don't need it... Java is an outdated language that only old systems use now. I have Java disabled in Safari because I've never, ever used it.

Oh, and it's removed from OS X 10.7. If you need something with Java it asks you to install a JVM. The version Apple gives you is outdated and **** because Oracle refuses to help!
