TEX4S
Have a router ? You've got a firewall then. You're done. Need the best A/V on the market ? webroot's Secure Anywhere 2012. People who recommend MSE, I have to ask what in the world are you thinking ? Its atrocious. I cant stand when people make statements like "I've used it and it works great " Define "works great", you mean it didnt catch your Acer computer on fire ? (see what I did there ?) :shifty: People who dont really do anything risky, have no business making recommendations really, think about it. If you are wanting recommendations on an off road vehicle, would you listen to a bunch of wannabe street racers ? N0 So why on earth listen to someone who does nothing more than bounce from facebook, to youtube & neowin all day ? You need to get advice from people who are actually "in the trenches" in IT security, virus removal, even virus creation. Or someone who has extensively researched several different ones because they had to make a recommendation to their company on which one they need to buy 5000 licenses for, and if it fails - its my their ass. :| Go look @ some of the well-respected industry mags out there (not the bogus search results) and see what they say possibly. I am not saying anyone who disagrees with me is clueless, I just dont like it when people have no idea what they're talking about making recommendations on things they shouldnt be. Dont listen to someone who says "I have xxxx and Ive never had a virus" they are the same asshats who say, "Acers/Compaq are good, I have one and no problems for 2 years" or some crap. There are a lot of good recommendations in here: sandboxie, linux even, but most importantly common sense. Industry experts really like Norton, I dont know enough about it to comment on it one way or the other. What I do know is the Webroot SecureAnywhere 2012 is tiny on resources (4 KB) insanely fast, and will even work with other antivirus programs. it has even removed things that malwarebytes couldnt. PC Mag gave webroot Secure Anywhere the highest scores ever for any AV software. MaximumPC gave it a 9 & KickAss award. I have about a dozen employees who are notorious for getting infections, once I put SecureAnywhere on their laptops, its been quiet as a church - no more problems from them - works like a champ ! -Alex-
<snip> You don't work for Webroot by any chance? :p
TEX4S
You don't work for Webroot by any chance? :p LOL - when I was typing it I thought someone was gonna think that. Nope just awfully impressed with it. Their corporate sales people gave me 20 licenses to try out when I was waiting for the enterprise pkg to roll out - I can see why industry experts say its the best. I don t really think the OP or in generall people are trully willing to learn file protection e.g. blocking attacks, it s more a "you heard something you don t know thing". No problem with that, not at all. Not everyone spends 14 hours / day on the PC so it s not a thing who is clueless - more a let me hear what you use nd those threads allways get constructive at some point.
