Samsung protesters tell Apple iSheep to "Wake up".

Recommended Posts

I see people selling old Macbooks with old hardware you can find in an old windows laptop for ?150, only because its Apple, they are asking 3-4x the price it would be worth as a windows machine

I think Wake Up is a good message to send :D

Then you must be very young, because:

Internet Explorer vs Netscape

Nintendo vs Sega

Xbox vs Playstation

CP/M vs MS DOS

Commodore vs Atari

Windows vs Linux

Intel vs AMD

Nvidia vs ATI

And I can go on and on...

Rivalries have always existed in and outside the tech world. And, to be honest, I dont see many apple users in these boards throwing punches at Android. However when someone throws a jab against Apple most of the time it's you.

I've coded on commodore 64 so I remember all of that..

Your examples were never present in mainstream space as it is today. As I said, only the hardcore tech geeks and gamers had allegiances to brands, but Apple took it to a whole new level. Nobody cared in mainstream what phone or device another person had. They looked at phones and how good they were and bought them, but there was never "you are using Nokia and I'm using Motorola and your Nokia sucks". Nobody cared. This trend appears every time Apple comes into a new market.

And also, no other company had so much effort invested in creating zealots behind Apple's brand as Apple did (maybe Sony comes close). Guy Kawasaki was hired at Apple to do just that. He explains it in his books about Apple and mentions it in Enchantment.

And, to be honest, I dont see many apple users in these boards throwing punches at Android.

Then you are either not looking hard enough or you are deliberately blind to it because you agree with those provocations. And Neowin is not a good measurement anyways because most people dislike Apple here because of the nature of the board. Looking outside, it is very clear how Apple users portray and insult Android and it's users.

Neither Google nor Android started any insults toward Apple and iOS. It was always the other way around and mostly because Apple and it's fans have perceived Android as a threat to their lifestyle and "superiority".

So much that Joshua Topolsky (who is actually an Apple fan in his own right) wrote a response to it:

His response

and he was not alone, O. Nyo from Verge also addresses this in his post:

Apple makes good stuff. Samsung, for the most part, makes good stuff.

I wonder if Samsung is realizing if they take 60% of the non-apple phone/tablet market it still wont be very profitable & they dont want to scuttle the ship - so they are trying to do what seemingly cant be done right now, and thats to dethrone apple.

They need to do better than this. Come out with something truly next-gen and you wont have to resort to this kind of marketing

Out of all those, Mac vs PC was absolutely the worst that was present from the very beginning.

Yeah the Mac vs PC thing has always been annoying, mostly fueled by Apple's marketing schemes over the years. I know what you mean about the Mac superiority complex. I used to be a huge Apple buyer, probably spending close to $20,000 on their stuff, because they led me to believe they were the best, until I tried Windows 7.

It's so bad that when Mac zealots saw my Macbook Pro, they smiled and thought I was another member of their tribe "Hey man nice Mac, is that the new one with Thunderbolt?!", until they shunned me when they saw it was actually running Windows 7. Since then I've had to put a cover over the laptop to hide the aluminum and glowing Apple logo to avoid drawing attention to myself.

Wake up to what? My iPhone makes calls, browses the web, plays music and takes nice photos. All I want a phone to do, what part about suddenly switching to a Samsung Android phone is going to make me Wake up?

When I look at how much it's going to cost to buy all my apps again?

They're talking about all the iSheep, as in people that buy Apple just because it's Apple.

Because today we have more media exposition and technology has introduced itself more into our lives.

Then you are either not looking hard enough or you are deliberately blind to it because you agree with those provocations.

Look at my signature. I'm the antifanboy.

Always hated fanboys. Especially Apple ones, because they have a high tendency to induce counter-fanboyism in others (the Anything But Apple trend) because they're the most annoying of the lot. Just like them damn churches preaching door-to-door. The Instagram fiasco reinforced my belief in this - just because they found Jesus aka iPhone, they are one cut above the rest.

The first few posters got Apple wrong. It isn't a mobile device anymore, it's a cult.

That won't work as the common man is enchanted by the Apple branding. Making a better device will win geeks over, but even in the geek community there are severe cases of biased brand loyalties already.

After reading this post, and others like it, I fail to see how the anti-Apple, "fanboys," are any better. Avatars on both sides cry about how bad the other side is when it comes to slinging mud, while making the same sweeping generalizations, statements not based in this reality, passing opinions off as fact (it helps to provide a credible source),and parading around that their platform of choice is the best all around andifyoudisagreeyoureablindfanboythatspartofthecultLOL
