Calif. Man Sues BMW For Persistent Erection

SAN FRANCISCO (WWJ) - BMW North America has probably had to deal with plenty of ?unusual lawsuits, but one filed last week may be a first ? a California man says the seat on his motorcycle has given him an erection he just can?t shake.

Henry Wolf of California is suing BMW America and aftermarket seatmaker Corbin-Pacific claiming his issue began after a four-hour ride on his 1993 BMW motorcycle, with a ridge like seat. Wolf is seeking compensation for lost wages, medical expenses, emotional distress and what he calls ?general damage.?

He said he?s had the erection non-stop for 20 months. And it comes with another side effect: The lawsuit says Wolf is ?now is unable to engage in sexual activity, which is causing him substantial emotional and mental anguish.?

WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Dr. Michael Lutz, at the Michigan Institute of Urology, who said there is no medical data to support the man?s claim. However, ?It?s been long-known that compression of the neurovascular supply to the penis ? ?if it?s compressed for a period of time, whether it be on a bicycle seat or some other device ? it can actually cause prolonged numbness of the genitalia,? Lutz said.

?Not only in men, but women can also get numbness in that region if they?re compressing those nervous structures to that region of the body,? he said.

BMW Motorcycles of Southeast Michigan in Canton, Mich., checked out the story and noted the man wasn?t riding a standard BMW motorcycle seat. He was on an after-market seat, which start at about $200. People generally buy them to make the ride more comfortable.

?Sometimes people say it?s more comfortable, sometimes people can get a tall seat or a low seat or they?re shorter or taller, they can come heated,? said Theresa at BMW Motorcycles of Southeast Michigan.

Seems as if he had his erection for 20 months, he should have gotten it in while he could, just sayin. Also, if he had that issue, he would have been to the doctors several times and they would have given him drugs to take that erection down. Blaming a motorcycle seat for a medical condition is not enough to win this guy some money, but maybe he'll get a good lawyer and dumb people in the courtroom... Watching porn gives me the same thing but am I going to sue the production company bc I had an erection too long, come on now...

    • Google reshuffles its AI coding team as it struggles to catch Anthropic by Karthik Mudaliar Google is already reorganizing the AI coding “strike team” it created roughly two months ago, as it attempts to find ways to close the gap with Anthropic in one of generative AI’s most commercially important areas. According to The Information, Google DeepMind is expanding the team’s focus to include “midtraining,” rather than concentrating only on coding tools and agents. Midtraining takes place after a model’s broad initial training but before the final stages that prepare it to follow instructions and perform specific tasks. In simple terms, it gives developers another opportunity to expose a model to carefully selected data before it is polished for release. That could help Google improve Gemini’s underlying coding abilities instead of relying only on better prompts, interfaces, or post-training. Previous research has found that midtraining can be particularly effective for code and mathematics, where models must move from general language knowledge to more structured tasks. Google reportedly created the original strike team in April. It was led by Google DeepMind research engineer Sebastian Borgeaud, who previously worked on model pretraining, and focused on complex, long-running programming jobs. Google co-founder Sergey Brin and Google DeepMind chief technology officer Koray Kavukcuoglu were also reportedly involved in the effort. DeepMind researchers were said to believe that Anthropic’s coding tools were outperforming Google’s Gemini models, prompting the company to give the project more attention. Anthropic has made coding a central part of its AI strategy through Claude Code and its Claude model family. The company has continued improving that area, with Claude Opus 4.8 offering upgrades for coding and other agentic tasks, along with the now-unavailable Mythos and Fable models. The reshuffle also comes at a time when Google faces increased competition for AI researchers. Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer recently announced that he was leaving Google for OpenAI, while two other researchers who contributed to Gemini and DeepMind projects are reportedly preparing to join Anthropic. It remains unclear whether the reorganized team will produce a new public Gemini model or developer product. No release date, team size, or specific performance target has been disclosed.
