It is a belkin f5d7231-4p. Although I have now had to unplug it and go back to normal mode on superhub, as I couldn't connect in any browser(after a couple of hours of problem free browsing), but I could ping sites from command prompt.

Will sort this problem out tomorrow.

I've had this belkin for quite a few years now, with no problem. I had to upgrade to the Superhub the other week because I was having problems with internet. Since then my girlfriend (who is connected wirelessly) has commented on low signal strength. Plugged the old router back in and got excellent signal strength. Never tried a different router, but I think the latest problems are cable related.

They keep trying to give me a pooperhub, but I refuse as a lot of friends I know, one of which is a network engineer, said they are terrible, and that you cannot use them with a switch etc. I need a switch as I have the modem (VMNG300v2) in one room and the other components I use (Smart TV, 360, PS3, Wii. Sky HD, Onlive, Popcorn Hour) in another room, thus a switch is necessary.

They did try one for me and the switch wasn't recognised, I have therefore refused every time I have an issue and they say the modem/router they supplied for my 50Mb connection are obsolete and needs replacing with the pooperhub.

The F5D7231 is a G+ so 125mbs compared with the Superhub N150/300Mbps modes it seems like a downgrade but going back to my original comment the Superhub is a pile of turd. I wonder if all Netgear routers are this bad

@BeLGaRaTh hang on to the modem otherwise your ping will be double in modem mode on the Superhub.

Just run speed test again, when using "modem mode", and a router I get around 18mb down, just using the superhub I get 30mb. The only problem is the wireless strength, but it is manageable.

Have any of you voted on my thread "What router brand do you use?" yet?

My router is 6 years old (NETGEAR WGR614v9) and still works great.

I am looking to replace so I can have guest WLANS and USB sharing.

So this is a little odd that a NETGEAR product would perform like this. I hope that their regular branded products are as reliable as my NETGEAR is!

so some people say that NETGEAT and not NETGEAR make this pooperhub and that NETGEAR is going to file copyright infringement on them... I hope so! LOL....

I also have a Virgin Media Netgear VMDG480 broadband modem/router. Whilst the Ethernet performance is strong, like other posts on this forum, I note that the Wifi signal strength is weak and only provides signal to half of my house. I've seen various comments that this is a common problem for this device. To overcome this I propose to install a Wireless Access Point at the far end of the house and connect this to the VMDG480 via powerlink. (I already use this powerlink connect to a PC at the far side of the house and this works really well.)

My concerns are:

1. Will the VMDG480 recognise the Wireless Access Point? I've seen some comments that suggest that this may be a problem.

2. Is there any specific type of Wireless Access Point that I should use to ensure compatibility with the VMDG480?

3. Is the use of a Wireless Access Point across powerlink a sensible approach?

4. An alternative approach is to use a Wireless Range Extender. Is this a better approach? If yes should I use a Netgear device to ensure compatibility?

Thanks, Paul

Not sure what your talking about. The VM Superhub works very well, I've had no problems with it and got mine a few months ago.

What I'm talking about is the huge number of friends, relatives and people on Virgin's support pages complaining about how the superhub often crashes after a few days of use, regularly locks up the settings page for no reason, and is prone to resetting to factory settings when virgin patch it, without notification to the user that it's done so, wiping all the wireless security settings in the process.

I have a small black ethernet only modem dating from about a month before the superhub, and a superhub, both show me 100mbs on speedtest results, but the small modem lets me use my own router and has never failed. `So superhub sits in a draw unused.

    • Those people that come over here on boats are already in a safe country, if they want to come over here then do so correctly though the right channels. I was born in the U.K, my family that came over here came so via the proper means. My partner came here via the correct channels, she also became a British citizen, she knows more about this country than most of them that was born here, including myself, she worked hard to do what she does. She will stick up for this country and have done a few times, when people from her own part of world have put the U.K down. We are not going to agree, all I said to start with is that maybe Trump has the right idea with this America first thing and maybe we should start doing the same. Maybe not as drastic as what he is doing, but we do need to sort this country out, we need to sort out tech instead of relying on the U.S and others. Again you have not shown why you are so annoyed that we have left the E.U and this is what it is all about? If you don't live in the U.K and live in the E.U are you annoyed that we left your little club? If you live in the U.K and is pro-E.U, then fair enough then I can see how it annoys you. Are you one of these people who lives in the U.K and have a holiday chalet in the E.U and can now only stay there for so long? If so, then that is bad luck. As I have posted before, I have no problem with people coming here to work, as long as they do if via the proper channels. We are out of the E.U, people voted out, and maybe if more people had voted instead of sitting on their backsides the results would have been different. But they like the E.U and our government thought no we would not vote to leave. How wrong they were, surprised me. I expected to wake up in the morning and hear on the radio that we voted to stay. As I said, we are out and have been for 10 years, we are not going to go back in anytime soon if we ever do, so we all need to make the best of how things are. Anyway, this is supposed to be a tech site.
    • Tim Cook: "The US over time began to stop having as many vocational kinds of skills." What's the point of wasting time getting those skills if you can't get a job with them? Good Lord, maybe he and his cohort of CEO's who exported all these jobs to China should just shut the f**k up :D
    • I made a new Cinematic/Trailer for the game, this will be the intro, still a work in progress!  I also updated the Steam page with a ton of new screenshots! 👀 https://store.steampowered.com/app/3925340/Incoherence_Dark_Rooms/

Microsoft confirmed June 23, 2026, that its Fairwater campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is fully operational — and the engineering behind it makes the facility something fundamentally different from every data center that came before it. Where conventional cloud infrastructure racks up general-purpose servers and parcels out workloads to each one independently, Fairwater links hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 Blackwell GPUs into a single, coherent cluster using a two-story building design, 800-gigabit-per-second Ethernet fabric, and a proprietary networking protocol co-developed with OpenAI and NVIDIA. The result, according to Microsoft, is the closest thing to a purpose-built AI supercomputer that any company has ever placed in commercial operation. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/319205/20260627/microsoft-opens-fairwater-wisconsin-ai-campus-runs-one-supercomputer-via-800g-ethernet.htm
