I'll admit, I'm extremely curious how you installed it backwards. Any chance of telling us what RAM you installed?

Also, how many sticks of RAM do you have - did both burn out? Or only one?

Maybe i didnt put in backwards then doesnt matter what I did all I know is that there is a burnt mark its a corsar 1 stick

After thinking more about it, it's entirely possible it could have Ben installed backwards. Causing 1 side to be raised from the socket causing an Arc, then that Arc causing 1 of the chips to burn out?

Stop building your own computers right now, buy them ready made and have other certified people upgrading them, you're obviously not meant to touch any kind of hardware outside of input devices.

I don't know if this has been said yet, but... you can't install RAM backwards. There's like... little tabs or something that will not allow that.

Are you 100% sure it's the RAM? Sniff your PSU and check the MB.

you are the reason companies are difficult to deal with RMAs, your the reason prices go up, your the reason companies quit offering great RMA service because so many who break their own stuff or abuse their products (ln2 cooling, 2v to the cpu, coating with nail polish). Thats what it is to me.

Ive seen it before, it was probably "installed" backwards and by that, it wasnt flush in the socket, user thought it was in and turned on system. Seen it before.
