Art is subjective i could spend hours talking about porn the same way some guy can talk for hours about some daisies in a cracked jug.

congratulations to the Bank of Canada for telling everyone, including counterfeiters, the security measures embedded in our new

These measures aren't exactly easy to copy and they tell about them so we can distinguish the fake ones from the real.

Vimy Memorial looks beautiful and reminds me Isildur and Anarion statues from LOTR :p; i cant see anything 'pornographic' or 'provocative' and its Canada own business what they want put on their banknotes.

The World does not spins exclusively for USA.

And you brought the US into this thread why?

the same was said about the previous notes. and the ones prior to them.

it's only a matter of time before the polymers are duplicated and fakes begin circulating

duh... every time they release new versions, they make the public aware of the changes. All the central banks in all the countries do this.

To prevent the counterfeiters from making fake bills, you have to deny them the access to the technology which is used to produce the real ones (the means of production). And in our world, the crooks will eventually catch up on techy stuff as they become cheaper.

And if you don't inform the public of the changes, you'd only be assisting the crooks coz the people would not be able to tell the difference. We wouldn't know what to look for to be certain we have real money in our hands.

If you look at the wiki article all the propposed memorials looked like towers but thats irrelevent as most war memorial have some sort of pinacle.

To me the image is a poor rendition of the memorial given those viewable on google images and the image on the left with HRs head on it looks rather oddly shaped.

Anyway C$20 woud be worth about UK ?1 so whats the problem? :D

The bills as a whole aren't that bad

My question is, these polymer bills, do they fold like the old paper currency? If not it's a major hassle to carry if you always need a wallet

It's my assumption that they do indeed act just like paper currency. I havent seen one in person yet though.

And just like today, there are ways to spot real and fake bills.

Check the American dollar bills in a light, there's supposed to be a visible face in the bill that can only be seen in the light. Fake bills cannot do this. That is why they tell you to check for the face.

Or the current Canadian bills, which can be checked for their special markings. These technologies are far more advanced than the counterfeiters can do today. They might get close, but they'll never replicate it fully.

They don't crease as easily as cotton-paper bills, but they can still fold. They are quite slippery though.

Old thread I know, but I have just seen the most anal report on BBC news, the Canadians are complaining that the maple leaf image on their bank note is the wrong type of maple leaf.....apparently it is VERY important as a symbol of Canada..

Who gives a f*** ?

If the UK had the face of a turtle in place of the queen I 'couldn't care less' - its money, you spend it...
