DayZ for Arma II

Recommended Posts

I wish I had seen this thread sooner.

Looks like so much fun, but I really don't want to drop $30 right now, and the Arma II CO deal is already off. :/

I have stoped playing it, the chages to spawn with nothing makes it no fun, wouldnt sbe so bad if the zombies didnt see you from miles away and kill you quick as crap

The latest patch made the game even more hardcore. Me and my friend developed a special tactic now, which consists of looting deer stands and mostly small houses, which can net you some good items from time to time.

But while this is much together on the one hand, well, there are still some weird bugs, for example zombies hitting you trough walls or spotting you, without being near ..

I share this sentiment. Such a shame, too, because when I initially got into the game it was rather fun and the challenge seemed just right. Its beyond ridiculous at this point.

Yeah it is really annoying that when I am crawling around a building I want to enter to have a zombie all the sudden come running out and attack me.

After the last adventures of myself & Lingwo I went alone today and actually did pretty well!

I spawned outside of Elektro and went on a massive looting session, I found a Czech Backpack which I filled up with blood packs epi-pens, morphine, bandages & painkillers. I have an Enfield (not so cool as it's just too damn loud) & a Makarov PM. I was in the Church when I saw this guy with a hatchet run past with a hoard of Zeds chasing him. He came inside & I shot him with the Enfield, he started bleeding but managed to get close enough to me to swipe & hit me! That knocked me unconscious and bleeding, the guy had zeds to deal with and was on the floor, this allowed me to come too and shoot him & kill him. So I now have 1 murder and was down to about 6.8k blood count. I also disposed of some of Zeds and then ran for it.

Pick up a few supplies and headed to the barn just outside of Elektro, bad idea, it was full of zeds and I lost another 2k of blood so down to 4.8k. I decide to try and find an animal to kill and cook the meat as I had a hunting knife, hatchet & matches.

As I looked around the outskirts of Elektro for a wild beast, I pulled out the Binoculars and found a Push Bike! Yes an Old Push Bike! Went and got aboard and ended up cycling around, found a cow, shot it with my Enfield which attracted Zeds from miles away! So got back on the bike and hit the road!

Got a video of it too which I am uploading to YouTube at the moment. So I am now currently in the deep forest, I've saved the old bike so when I log back in to the server it will still be there hopefully.

Need to next play with a friend so they can give me a blood transfusion!

^ Site isn't loading, but here's the statement on their Tumblr:

That?s right, this is actually happening - DayZ will be developed as a standalone game, with me as project lead, by Bohemia Interactive. This is the fairy-tale outcome for a mod that many would have said impossible four months ago.

Development and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game, so anyone who is playing the mod now will be able to continue to do so. The project will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price.

I realize people will have many, many questions - but we wanted to let everyone know the announcement now. Over the coming weeks, these questions will be answered. The game will have it?s own site, www.dayzgame.com and the mod will continue at it?s present link.

I've been playing DayZ for a couple months nearly and its pretty awesome. Updates have slowed down as they are focusing on Stand alone so I'm not playing as much as I was, kinda don't know what to do. I got a good few weapons now I just go hunting people.

I was always a bit uncertain about how to get into this, and concerns about the bugginess of it... I'll wait for it to go standalone now and then will definitely pick it up!

I see where your coming from, as its Alpha it seems kinda silly to have to purchase a full game just to play an Alpha mod. It cost me around ?15 from Bohemia directly and I think for the time I have played and enjoyed playing it was worth it.

As you said though as its going stand-alone now its worth waiting for. I've heard they will be doing the same pricing model as Minecraft with the Alpha version being cheap then gradually becoming more as it goes final.

Yes, it will be using the Minecraft pricing model. I think that is the best way personally.

I've stopped playing it until the standalone is out. The bugs just got really annoying and each patch iteration seemed to fix one problem and break another 10 things. It just seemed it was never getting anywhere. Hopefully now he has a proper dev team and access to the engine, i think we'll see a much better game.

I have stoped playi and highly doubt ill play the standalone.

Friends UUID was taken over ( think i said this before )

But the person that took over the UUID got banned, so obviously my friend is banned now

*edit - ok i checked and i didn't, the character to the Hive is all based off the UID which is generated from the key, iv personally seen UID changers online, where you can pick a random UID and it will in turn change how you show up to BattleEye, Servers, and the DayZ Hive. Friend had it happen to him.

It started with him logging into different locations on the map from where he logged off, then went to different gear, dead. And now Banned.

As far as DayZ and BattleEye, they don't care, all their info only traces the UID, not the IP or other pertinent info

    • Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat are free to claim on the Epic Games Store by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe PC gamers have two more games they can add to their library without needing to open their wallets, as the Epic Games Store's freebie offer has just refreshed. That means last week's Warhammer 40K Speed Freeks and The Ouroboros King offer has been replaced by two new games, which happen to be Robobeat and Citizen Sleeper copies. From the duo, Robobeat lands from developer Simon Fredholm, offering a rhythm-based action game. Released only last year, the title puts you into the shoes of Ace, a bounty hunter that's targeting the robot showman Frazzer. The fast-paced title offers movement techniques like wall-running, sliding, and bunny hopping to zoom around while shooting enemies, but the requirement is doing everything to the beat. Outside of built-in tracks, the title also lets players upload their own music to populate its levels too. Next, Citizen Sleeper lands from Jump Over The Age, a sci-fi RPG adventure taking place in a ruined space station where thousands of people are trying to survive. The tabletop RPG-inspired title uses things like dice and clocks to change how the player approaches situations and survives their day-to-day lives. There is a large range of characters to meet with in the station, each with their own storylines and alliances. "You are a sleeper, a digitised human consciousness in an artificial body, owned by a corporation that wants you back," says the developer about the setting. "Thrust amongst the unfamiliar and colourful inhabitants of the Eye, you need to build friendships, earn your keep, and navigate the factions of this strange metropolis, if you hope to survive to see the next cycle." The Citizen Sleeper and Robobeat giveaways are set to run until June 25 on the Epic Games Store, giving PC gamers seven days to claim the latest offer. Once this closes out, new freebies will take its place on the same day. They are supposed to be copies of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and Voidwrought. Don't forget that mobile gamers can check out the Epic Game Store's weekly giveaways on Android and iOS to grab a freebie there as well.
    • Vivaldi version 8.0.4033.50 released June 17: https://vivaldi.com/blog/desktop/minor-update-eight-8-0/
    • The Online part hasn't even been announced and probably won't be included on day one. This is a massive singleplayer game.
    • While I agree with all that, it just proves there's an a** built for every seat.
