microsoft Microsoft TechNet Standard subscription

I'm planning on buying a Microsoft TechNet Standard (http://www.microsoftstore.ca/shop/en-CA/Microsoft/TechNet-Subscription-Standard) subscription at the beginning of June.

According to my research, it "Includes most Microsoft commercial software including Beta and RC releases. Does not include Enterprise or Microsoft Dynamics software." Does it include Windows and Visual Studio? If so, what versions does it come with?

Does anybody here have a TechNet Standard subscription? If so, is it worth the money? Would you buy it again?

It does not include Visual Studio. That is what an MSDN subscription is for.

You get all of the Retail software I believe (not sure as I've only had the Pro version).

Don't think Technet included Visual Studio when I had one. Remember that Technet was designed for evaluation, not development.

If you want VS, I think MSDN subscriptions include it.

I have technet . It does not include visual studio. You need msdn for that. Technet is all the server os related stuff, applications like microsoft office, and operatin systems like windows 7. IF you get your technet subscription through volume licensing it will also include things like windows 7 enterprice and the volume licensing versions of the software (i think desktop optimization pack is technet vl only).

flat out. any technet is good. even if you have to get the visual studio version. i dont use VS but i have technet plus. 10 keys for each version OS is worth it if you have a lot of computers of your own.

Basically TechNet is for support and MSDN is for development.

It DOES include Microsoft Dynamics. I see Dynamics AX, Axapta, CRM, GP, NAV, POS, & SL. Along with some other Business Solutions.

If you need the Visual Studio stuff, I think they do a separate package called Bright Sparks or something similar.

Got my subscription (because of work, i convinced them I needed it to learn new software to better help everyone :D) last october so definitely enjoying it. Boss is somewhat of a techy and wanted to try out new stuff too so he's happy I got it. Can't wait for Windows 8 to come out as I'll get a copy there too as well as all the previews for Windows Server 2012 which I want to install at work to replace Windows Server 2003R2!!! They are running those and SQL 2005 there, crazy!

I at least upgraded the workstations to Windows 7 and Office 2010 as those were on Windows XP and Office 2003. Talk about oooold! :p

Remember, it is for your own use only and should not be shared with anybody outside who it is licensed to. So if your boss wants a copy of one of the apps included, he will have to purchase his own TechNet Sub.
