Open Source Alternative to PowerPoint (Not OO or LO please)

Question

Hello guys,

Im in need of a free alternative to powerpoint for editing .PPT files. I dont really like OpenOffice or LibreOffice because of their Java. Anyone know of a good alternative?

Word has Abiword, Excel has Gnumeric, Publisher has Scribus but nothing for PowerPoint? Am i missing something here?

If you have a skydrive account you could use the limited web version of Powerpoint, unless you want to avoid using powerpoint completely.

No. There are no good alternatives.

Ok point taken there are no good alternatives at the moment.

Im using the one on google docs since I don't have need for intensive editing yet but if time comes I might need it I'll most probably install LibreOffice or Apache OpenOffice.

Kingsoft Presentation maybe your best bet, it's menus and features are almost an exact copy of MS Office 2003 as far as word and excel go. Haven't tried their powerpoint program however so can't comment on that. I hate oo as well but this kingsoft package is the most MS office like FREE software I've come across it's great.

Last time I tried, you could run OOo without Java installed. There are just a few features that do not work.

Also, LibreOffice is trying to remove all Java dependencies.

Went with LibreOffice... It's not as fast as my abiword and gnumeric combination. not really happy with it 100+mb of ram for a single document opened? If i remember abiword is consuming far less than this..
