Facebook Testing New Profile Look You Might Hate (Again!)

Recommended Posts

The boxes underneath the cover photo (Photos, Map, Likes etc.) started to make Timeline look cluttered and messy, after the recent changes to the Activity and Friends boxes (changes which I like), so I was happy to see that they're looking to make changes similar to this. I believe the changes in the screenshot look much better, and I'm looking forward to seeing what else they chang. For some reason, I think the screenshots in the following article look better than the one in the Gizmodo article: http://allfacebook.c...eak-test_b89347

It's not really a timeline is it, it's more like a time-zig-zag.

I see why you think that, but it is actually a line. The line is that long, thin, blue thing down the middle :) The posts attach to that line from either side.

I like the new tweaked look.... and what's with the negative topic title? It could just have easily been "Facebook testing new profile look you might love".

I just copied the title from Gizmodo's article verbatim. Personally, I agree.

the white text over the picture, i wonder how they determine what color it will be? what if the pic is mostly white, or a light color?

I believe there's a function in GD (if not, there will be another way in PHP somehow) to determine the background colour, and decide whether to use a light or dark colour text.

I think the black gradient under the text but overlaying the picture helps with that. Though I don't know how transparent it is.

since timeline the facebook app is slower then ever and it's painful on wifi, let alone 3g!!! arrrg

I noticed that too... hoping they update the facebook app because at times i want to just stop checking it on my phone since it takes forever to load...i've actually been using Seesmic

Nope they updated it last week I think and it made it worse!!! glad I didn't update mine my sis did and hers is slower then mine!!!! and mine is almost painful to use..

I just use m.facebook.com for now but even then it's slow as hell!!! arrrg. ... painful on a phone...

I'm not a massive fan of timeline, but these revisions look quite good. Especially so having key things such as "Likes, Summary" at the top rather than buried somewhere on the page.

Yeah, the new timeline refresh does look better than the current one. Less cluttered. That was the annoying thing about the timeline is that it takes up so much space before you even get to status updates.

    • Report: iPhone Air isn't dead, and a second-generation model is planned for 2027 by Hamid Ganji Image via Apple Since the launch of the iPhone Air, we’ve heard conflicting rumors and speculation about the fate of Apple's ultra-thin iPhone. As it turns out, Apple is not going to ditch the Air model from its lineup, and a second generation is already planned for next year. As reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, citing people familiar with the matter, the second-generation iPhone Air is planned for spring 2027 and is poised to receive notable upgrades. The upgraded model, codenamed V62, will reportedly feature an additional rear camera for ultrawide photography. The new camera system is said to be in advanced testing within Apple. Gurman also says the second-generation iPhone Air could offer better battery life, either through a larger battery or software improvements. The overall design of the device is expected to remain unchanged. A single rear camera and below-average battery life were among the biggest drawbacks of the first-generation iPhone Air despite its $999 price tag. Hopefully, the next iPhone Air will fare better. Gurman also added that the device will be powered by the A20 Pro processor. The release of the second-generation iPhone Air in spring 2027 aligns with previous reports that Apple is shaking up the iPhone release cycle. Accordingly, the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the company’s first foldable iPhone are expected to launch in September 2026, followed by the iPhone 18 and the new iPhone Air roughly six months later. The 20th-anniversary iPhone is also reportedly planned for fall 2027. Meanwhile, if you’re planning to buy the refreshed iPhone Air, Apple might surprise you with a new price tag. As we reported today, CEO Tim Cook confirmed that price increases are on the way due to rising memory chip costs and a severe shortage. With that in mind, analysts estimate that the base iPhone 18 Pro could cost as much as $1,399 this year. The current $999 iPhone Air may not be immune to those price hikes.
