Anyone know of a good SC2 OR command and conquer clone that people actually play. Age of Empires Online has been a real let down for me and I am sick of the other 2

Company of Heroes is fantastic and still has quite a lot of people playing it. It's also super cheap in most places, steam had all 3 for ?5 the other day.

Edit: Not really a clone but still a great RTS.

So do u actually build ur own base and get resources?

You do but not in the same way that you get resources in SC2/C&C. Resources in CoH are obtained by capturing and holding points throughout the map, you still build your base depending on the tech you want but it's all dependant on if you were succesful capturing the points you wanted. e.g Fuel points are required before you can go heavy armour like tanks.

It's almost impossible not to play with someone with a hack though.. such a shame because this game is amazing (there is room for improvement.. hopefully with company of heroes 2!)

I played all the C&C games and can say imo COH is better than them all. Still loads playing it, record number of players online was actually just a week or so ago. It's so cheap it's a shame not to try it.

Cool steam has it for around 10 dollars right now... anyone know of a cheaper place to get it?

I'd recommend RUSE as a great RTS if not for the fact the release of Japan destroyed any balance the game had. Outside that, the only RTS's I find any fun anymore are Shogun 2, Sins of a Solar Empire and SupCom. I'm getting ready to learn Company of Heroes myself though.

CoH is a good game. Anyone interested should definitely check out the Blitzkreig mod or the BotB mod. After playing those you will wonder how anyone could play vanilla CoH.

You can get unofficial multiplayer hacks for C&C1 and play online!

Same as with total annihilation (which is awesome too).

Also there's openra you can get and install red alert and C&C1 files into, it's not exactly the same as the originals but it's pretty similiar and I think has multiplayer support.

I can't wait for Generals 2 o.o I loved the first one so much WHEN I COULD GET THE BLOODY MULTIPLAYER TO WORK argh o.o
