My corsair headphones stopped working all of a sudden and it's only been a few months. I filled out an RMA form and they approved it.

"Shipping Carrier:

  • The consumer is responsible for return freight costs to Corsair. We recommend shipping your product with a carrier who provides tracking and insurance options. Corsair is not liable for lost or stolen packages.

"

This is part of the RMA instructions. These are big headphones and it's going to cost 25 bucks to ship them.... that's 40% the cost of new headphones... Is this standard practice or should I call and ask them to pay for it?

that's why you buy in brick and mortar stores costs more, but you get way better service, especially when something breaks. or you deal with online stores that will do the rma for you and handle the shipping, or you buy brands that have better service procedures, like KOSS that will ship parts to you depending on the model(they ship the ear pieces with cable on all their porta series directly to customer)

Except the brick and mortar stores don't just turn around and hand you a replacement. It gets shipped to their local service center, where they do a hack job repair (licensed by the manufacturer), and send it back. Meanwhile you're waiting a month and it may not even come back functional.

When you need to rma something then it should be the business that should pay to ship the item, as the cost to ship is usually 50-75% of the total cost. big business can afford to pay but smaller ones usually cannot. When i had to RMA an external HDD, it costed 40 bucks just to ship it and the item's cost was around $95. if it's under warranty then the warranty(my item was under warranty should pay for shipping.

Normal procedure is to get the item to the store at your cost (whether that be driving because petrol costs money, or shipping to an online store). That store is then responsible for handling the entire transaction with the OEM on your behalf. Consumer law varies by country.

umm, no, of course they don't just hand you a replacement (well actually depending on the product they may) however they also do not just send it to any repair center. they don't want to pay for it anymore than you do. They send it either to the maker or the makers official or licensed servcie center. usually for most electronics it goes to the makers own, for cameras and stuff, it often goes to licensed specialized service centers.

either way, the product ends up being repaired at the same place as if you rma it to the maker. or you get the same refurb back as you would from them.

they do it to filter out the people who return things for the slightest things ?or in other words they want to make sure your serious about the return. Remember because of a few everyone suffers. You can try a complaint to the better business bureau or a state attorney general or something equivalent in the area you are in...sometimes this works Any company worth a hill of beans wants to avoid complaints to government agencies especially or consumer agency's... good luck...

You're realising the same as me, don't bother with Corsair headphones!!

I bought the HS1 headphones in November, they messed up by March (sound started coming out one side only, it seems the cable was loose at the connection between the volume control and the actual headset, taping the cable over corrected this...for a while), I had a few e-mails bouncing back and forth.

Once they finally gave me an RMA reference I had to pay to post the headphones to Holland (not v cheap from the UK).

Now on 21st May the replacement pair they sent me (Vengeance 1500) are doing exactly the same thing after 2 MONTHS!!

The velcro strap which you can use to secure the cabling and not have it hanging all over the time had already "rotted" and basically disintegrated. I had to end up using an elastic band to secure the cabling.

It's not as if I tied the headset to the ceiling and hang off it, I use it like anyone else uses their headset, Corsair's headsets just don't seem to be very well made, even though they have/had great reviews all over the place, I would definitely advise people to STEER WELL CLEAR OF CORSAIR HEADSETS!!

Yes it costs that much to ship them. They are kinda bulky, you can see if you google them.

I hear you, I regret buying them but I HATE the leather that most headphones use. Corsair uses memory foam and honestly, while the headphones are working, they are great and comfortable... I wish I could go wireless to avoid the problems you are having. of course, new problems would pop up like bunnies.

Well I got these after having a wireless headset, had the same problem with them after a while. I think I'm just gonna start either buying budget headsets or buy a complete pro headset but then you run the risk of paying out even more for an RMA should something go wrong.

    • I am not a fan of haptic feedback touchpads. I've owned a Surface Laptop 7 (Snapdragon) with one and a Lenovo Slim (Intel), and I hated both to the point where I purchased different laptops. It's not that they don't work most of the time; it's that they don't work 100% of the time, and there is no advantage from a user's perspective over a good mechanical trackpad like what's on a ThinkPad X1 or a Yoga 9i. I do not believe that I'll buy another haptic feedback touchpad laptop again in the near future.
    • Works fine here too. About this build, I don't like to download any kind of Windows, from any site except Microsoft. The mod might work, but I don't know what it's inside. Can contain malware, backdoors... Long time ago I've used something like this but reversed - it was 98se with the look and some functionality  of XP. Or, later XP with Vista look. But I made it myself. Not downloaded from obscure sites.
    • Rockstar gives last-gen GTA V players free upgrades tomorrow by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Rockstar is preparing to launch Grand Theft Auto VI later this year, but ahead of that, the company has revealed a new offer for some Grand Theft Auto V owners. It today announced that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version owners of the 2013-released title will soon be receiving a free upgrade to the current generation version. The studio released the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 version of Grand Theft Auto V back in 2022, bringing significant upgrades to the original console editions. This included 60 FPS gameplay at up to 4K resolution, as well as major upgrades to textures, draw distance, and audio. Faster load times, ray tracing elements, and HDR support were also added with it. While this new and enhanced version needed a new purchase of the game to jump in, now Rockstar has decided to make it a free upgrade, dropping the $40 price tag entirely on consoles. "Beginning tomorrow, those who own any PS4 version or the digital Xbox One version of Grand Theft Auto V will be able to upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S versions at no additional cost, and experience the best versions of GTA V and GTA Online," said the company in an official blog post. The free upgrade offer will be released tomorrow, June 18, for all Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners of Grand Theft Auto V. Players who will be jumping in on the offer will want to check how to migrate their GTA Online profile from last-generation to current-generation consoles by heading over here. The offer lands ahead of The Kortz Center Heist hitting Grand Theft Auto Online, where players and crews will be tasked with stealing priceless international art from a prestigious gallery in Pacific Bluffs. It doesn't look like Rockstar plans to stop updating its previous game even with Grand Theft Auto VI being on the horizon. The latest title is slated to launch on November 19, 2026, across Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
