GLENDORA, CA (KABC) -- A 13-year-old girl in Glendora is recovering after being attacked by a pit bull at her father's home.

The attack happened on the 900 block of East Myrtle Avenue at about 12:30 a.m.

The girl was with her 10-year-old and 1-year-old brothers.

Two pit bulls lived at the home.

Glendora Police say officers shot the dog that attacked the girl, but the dog still ran away. The dog was killed when another officer ran the animal over with his car, fearing it was a threat to others.

The girl is expected to be OK.

The second pit bull was taken away by Animal Services.

Doesn't seem like there's really enough information to judge the exact situation here.

What if there were people around and the only way to safely prevent it from being a danger was to run it over, instead of pulling out the gun and trying to aim at a dog running away.

He did the right thing. If there was people around then using a gun would be too much risk. A front confrontation against an animal with tons of pressure in its jaws would be a suicide, and awaiting for backup would mean the girl's death.

Seriously people, you put the life of a pitbull over the life of a girl?

I have dogs and am a vegetarian due to not agreeing with the killing of animals......that being said, I don't blame the officer. Pitbulls can be lethal. It had already attacked someone and is now probably ****ed off due to being shot and could have lashed out at any other residents it encountered.

And the pitbull was only that way because of stupid humans who I'm sure the dog was mistreated by.

EDIT::

Redacted. Wouldn't want to hurt anyone's feelings now would we >.>

The dog was feral, do you think it would just stop hurting others? Even the article says the officer feared it would hurt other people.

Have you owned pitbulls? Once they go berserk it's almost impossible to stop them.

I would kill the dog but that doesn't mean it's the dog's fault. It's still humans who created the situation so I would blame them.

This. Dogs are only reacting by instinct and how they were raised. It is a sad sad situation. I feel for both the family and dog. I know if any of my dogs some how ever attacked a family member, I would put them down. But you can be sure I will be bawling like a baby and going against every moral fiber I have. But I know what is more important, though I hold both equally in my heart.

Instinct trumps training. You can train a tiger to not attack and be docile but once instinct kicks in, all training is out the window.

There's a reason why pit bulls are the favorite breed for use in dog fights.

I grew up with a female pitbull (Nina). We treated her very well never did anything bad to her and did our best to train her well. One day, a boy was walking his pet poodle and next thing we know Nina had jumped the fence and began attacking the poodle. Our dog had never shown any aggression until that day and never since. She knew the dog she attacked as the boy was a neighbor and had brought the dog over a few times. It took me and my brothers several minutes to get Nina to let go of the poodle. Luckily the poodle wasn't hurt too bad.

After that day we could feel something had changed in her. Although she never did anything else; no one felt the same comfort around her after that. We ended up giving her away to a friend who owed a farm.

It was a dangerous dog to start with, now it was also hurt and ****ed off(more). running over it makes sense and far safer than firing guns around wildly at small targets like a dog that's running around ready to kill the next person that gets close.

At some point you have to drop the humanely aspect, you don't go out of the car talk nicely to a pit bull like this, tell it to lie down nicely while you rub his belly and inject him with a syringe. It was a dangerous feral animal that needed to be taken out, safely.

In the end; it's just an animal. I can't understand how people care more about an animal than a human being.

They're both the same to me...

Some, but what about the girl? Do you know her personally?

Of course not, I know her race (human) though, and that'll always be enough for me.

    • Google pitches Spanner as one database for all AI agents with these new featues by Karthik Mudaliar Google Cloud is introducing new features within Spanner, its distributed database, as a place where enterprises should keep their data, using which AI agents could make smarter and better decisions. In a detailed blog post, Google highlighted quite a few features coming to Spanner, including relational data, graph relationships, vector search, key-value access, full-text search, and operational analytics together in one database architecture. Google says that today's systems aren't well-made for AI agents. There could be data that is present in one system, search indexes in another, embeddings in a vector database, and relationship data in a graph database. This fragmentation isn't great for AI agents to do their jobs because they don't have access to all of this data in one place. This is where Google is positioning Spanner as a solution. Spanner is already a globally distributed relational database with strong consistency, and Google wants its customers to see it as a broader data layer for AI applications. The company introduced something called Spanner Graph, along with integrated vector search, full-text search, a Cassandra-compatible key-value endpoint, and a columnar engine for analytical queries on operational data. Google also added that its ScaNN-powered vector search can support indexes with more than 10 billion vectors, while the columnar engine can make some analytical scans up to 200 times faster. All of this isn't just exclusive to the Google Cloud Platform, and there's support for multi-cloud as well. This comes via Spanner Omni, which Google says is a downloadable, containerized version of Spanner that can run on Kubernetes and in environments outside Google Cloud, including Microsoft Azure and AWS, and even on-premises infrastructure as well as edge deployments. Google says that customers who are interested in the full-featured edition should contact the company, and there's no word on commercial availability or separate pricing. Those interested can read the full blog by Google Cloud, which details these features individually.

    • They have lots of info on me, I have a facebook account and have done so for years, it was the thing to have then. My phone number is not on it. I don't have the Facebook app on my phone these days, just the messenger part, and only for a couple of people to contact me, most will text me via SMS or phone. I agree, Meta, like others, even without an account will know something about me. Just have to try and keep some things private Also, never saw the need for Whatsapp, people used to ask for me to join it, but as I said to them, I have SMS and a phone, use that, or email
