iTunes for XP?

lol, I don't think iTunes Music Store will be an application you download just as its not on a Mac.

On a Mac you access the iTunes Music Store via iTunes 4. It is a web based service, I don't think Apple will release iTunes for a PC somehow lol.

Um, Apple is releasing a Windows version of iTunes so that windows users can buy music off of the iTunes Music Store.

It's been confirmed by Jobs himself (at least according to the articles I've read). He's holding a conference today (apparently at 10am PST) and he's announcing the release, after which Windows users will be able to download iTunes and start using the music store.

iTunes Music Store (iTMS) not iTunes is supposed to be released, there is a difference. Too many people mixing them togther. lol

And how do you propose Windows users should access the music store? You yourself said that iTunes was needed for access to iTMS.

Like I said, it's likely a slightly stripped down version of the mac iTunes. You'll be able to access the music store, play music, sync your iPod and make playlists and such. But it's still iTunes.

plenty of music stores online that don't use a iTunes type app to access.

Bottom line is I don't know, I am just stressing my pov. I could be wrong, like I said would be good for an iTunes for XP etc.

I still wouldn't use it. As I don't on my Mac. I happen to live in the UK.

Jobs don't like us brits

now if they would bring out "pcOSX"

Actually, Apple has such a thing, though it probably won't ever be released. Apple keeps an x86 port of Mac OS X at all times to:

1. Have something to go to if the Apple platform flopped horribly.

2. Have cleaner, more cross-platform-compatible code (sometimes changes are made to the original code branch to make it work better on x86 and clean up the code)

Now, I just wish Apple would actually release that version!

you may want to go back to those links and read the news again, they all refer to iTMS not iT4.

First off, those are all just rumors. It's not officially known if 'Marklar' actually exists. While it's entirely possible such a thing could exist, it's all just speculation and hearsay.

Second, this thread is not about OSX on PCs...so can we please stop it, right here, right now.

I BEG OF YOU ALL, please don't let this thread degenerate into another stupid flamewar

Thank you.

Old versions of OS X server worked on x86, I installed DR 2 a few weeks ago, and sure enough, OS X on a PC :p

You have a point there.

This is another classic case of Jobs not giving anyone any concrete information until the minute it's actually released. While it builds excitement, it can also result in a big let-down, especially if Apple only opens some 'website' version of iTMS or some crap-ass application that accesses the store and does nothing else.

Fortunately, we know Apple is better than that, so I'm still thinking that they'll release some kind of version of iTunes (the application) for Windows in the next hour.

thing is none of those news itimes are from Apple either, so I'm keeping an open mind. I don't want to be dissapointed.

That's good to have the willpower not to get your hopes up.

Hell, I have a Mac and I'm still excited to see what they release.

PS - They're also announcing some new iPod accessories, and I just purchased a new iPod, so I'm looking forward to that too.

Its 10 AM PST and it isn't there yet. :(

Again, the conference is 'scheduled' to begin at 10am PST. Take into account that it'll likely start late, and then he actually has to make the announcement, talk about a few things....THEN it'll be available.

Be patient.
