The Anderson Silva that dialed in for a media call promoting UFC 148 was different than any heard before.

The alternately polite, dismissive and non-communicative UFC middleweight champion was replaced by a guy who breathed fire for his opponent, Chael Sonnen, before leaving early, the smoke still clearing on his words.

"First of all, Chael is a criminal," Silva (31-4 MMA, 14-0 UFC) said through translator and manager Ed Soares. "He's been convicted of crimes. He doesn't deserve to be inside the octagon. And when the time comes and the time is right, I'm going to break his face and break every one of his teeth in his mouth."

But it didn't end there ? it went on and on. Every mention of Sonnen (27-11-1 MMA, 6-4 UFC), who also participated on the call, brought forth a new stream of vitriol from Silva.

"People who live in the past, and things that are in the past, are in museums," Silva said about his past performance against Sonnen, which took place at UFC 117 and ended in a come-from-behind, fifth-round submission victory for the champ. "Right now, I'm focused on what's going to happen in the next few weeks, and right now, playtime is over.

"I'm going to beat Chael like he's never been beaten before. The joke is over. There's no more talking. I know he's on the line listening, and the game is over. I'm going to beat his ass out of the UFC. He's never going to want to fight again after I'm done with him."

I was so ****ed when Sonnen lost the last time. He was punishing Silva. One stupid mistake and he lost. That's the way MMA fights go. I hope Sonnen takes this opportunity to kick the **** out of Silva and, this time, finish him.

I'm was too focused on the Euro 2012 to do a write-up of UFC 147 and UFC on FX 4 but seeing how they both sucked (generally), I'm not too bothered. Will post a write-up of this when I have the time. For the meanwhile, here's Roger Huerta getting KTFO at ONE FC 4.

that's just a punt to the head! :p

Preliminary Card on Facebook

Rafaello Oliveira vs Yoislandy Izquierdo - A loser-gets-cut match buried in the Facebook prelims. The only thing of mention about this fight is that both guys lost their UFC debuts by RNC. I'm amazed that UFC still uses Facebook for prelims because, when they announced the FOX deal, they said all prelims would air on FX.

Preliminary Card on FX

John Alessio vs Shane Roller - Alessio was brought back to the UFC (he fought at UFC 26 in 2000) as a late replacement for Matt Wiman and lost a very one-sided and very boring fight to Mark Bocek. He's a decent fighter but didn't go for the finish until it was too late and it was 30-27 across the cards. Roller is on very thin ice, having lost 3 in a row with 2 finishes. He must get a win if he wants to keep fighting in the UFC and making money. He has shown time and time again that he is very good with submissions. Seeing how Alessio's grappling game got exploit for 3 rounds against Bocek, this fight is his to lose.

Constantinos Philippou vs Riki Fukuda - This one is pretty simple to call: if the fight is kept standing, Philippou hits hard and will certainly KO Fukuda; if it turns into a grappling match, Fukuda has the skills to grind out a win. Just don't expect a finish from him. Philippou will have to come prepared and use his defensive wrestling to keep the fight standing and unload.

Melvin Guillard vs Fabr?cio Cam?es - Guillard has a problem: he's one of the most athletically gifted fighters in the LW division but he's also pretty goddamn dumb. He was beating the brakes off of Jim Miller until he threw a flying knee, got taken down and RNC. Pretty much the same happened in his previous fight against Joe Lauzon, a guy he could probably have KO'ed 10 times in 5 minutes if he wasn't a dumbass. This fight is almost a "gimmie". Cam?es is a top level grappler alright but his stand-up is seriously lacking. Guillard, who now trains with the Blackzillians, just has to do his thing, the same thing that got him very close to a title shot, and use his athletic gifts to get a much needed win.

Gleison Tibau vs Khabib Nurmagomedov - Another guy that fought on the UFC on FX 1 card. Tibau's UFC career follows a set pattern: he starts to build a streak, moves up in competition and loses. He's now 3-0 since losing to former top contender Jim Miller and gets to face off against Khabib Nurmagomedov, a guy with a weird name but a 17-0 record and multiple Sambo championships. Should Khabib win, he will certainly move up a tier in UFC competition. If Tibau wins, he starts to be "in the mix" for the LW title because there are not many LW fighters with a 4 fight win streak going.

Main Card

Ivan Menjivar vs Mike Easton - Menjivar was one of the names that was mentioned when Cruz got injured as a possible contender for the interim belt. That fight was supposed to be on this card but then got shifted to UFC 149 when it's main event crumbled due to an injury. Mike Easton is getting thrown to the sharks here. Menjivar is extremely strong for a BW and is skilled both on his feet and on the ground. Easton is 12-1 but has never fought a guy as experienced and skilled as Menjivar so I don't think he can take it. Still, if he won, he would shoot up the BW rankings like an arrow, setting him up for a top-tier fight.

Chad Mendes vs Cody McKenzie - From fighting for the title to fighting a one-trick pony, Chad Mendes just can't seem to catch a break. Even when he was ranked the #3 FW in the world, his fights would be buried in the prelims where he would diligently decision guys to death. But, seeing how Hioki crapped out, Poirier got beat, Hominick is a shadow of his former self, another title shot is, at most, 3 wins away. He just has to remember to keep his neck out of harm's way and get a win against McKenzie. McKenzie can only win by guillotine and we all know how good the Team Alpha Male guys are with guillotines... It would be quite funny if he got submitted by one.

Dong Hyun Kim vs Demian Maia - Demian Maia, despite improving on his striking recently, lost a decision to a very gassed Chris Weidman due to lack of interest and fighting will. He seemed to completely abandon the BJJ that pushed him to a title shot and just used his average kickboxing. Kim is well rounded and is always game. If he can break Maia's will to fight (not difficult), he will grind out a decision win as usual.

Cung Le vs Patrick C?t? - Patrick C?t? returns to the UFC after raking up 4 wins in a row. He gets to face against Cung Le, a guy we must recently saw getting his face rearranged by Wanderlei Silva. He was schedule to fight Rich Franklin but Rich got shifted to the UFC 147 card. C?t? returns to the UFC and him curious to see if he has improved his skills. He his a very strong striker with KO power who will certainly do damage to Le. As for Le, if he couldn't KO Wanderlei, he's not KO'ing C?t? so he needs to keep his cardio up and do his best to deliver enough damage for a TKO.

Forrest Griffin vs Tito Ortiz - If it's the Forrest we saw against Shogun, Tito wins hands down. If it's the Forrest that fought against Rich Franklin, Tito has to work very hard to win. Both of these guys are at the end of their careers, I would be surprised if Forrest retired after this fight (lose or win) because he's very beat up and there aren't any fights around for him to take outside of "farewell" and "name making" fights. Also, UFC 106's main event was a very ****ty fight.

Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen - Do I even need to talk about this fight? The rematch we've all been waiting to happen will finally crown the true MW champion of the world, Chael Sonnen (not going to happen but one can dream).

Honestly, I love Chael Sonnen. Usually his personality is not appealing to me, but he has a way with words that keeps me interested. However, I really never want to see him debate politics or some other topic he doesn't understand again. Just because he is a good speaker does not mean he actually knows what he is talking about. Regardless, I predict he will win by TKO in the second round.

TKO Anderson Silva? Have you ever seen Anderson fight? Here's him against Dan Henderson, getting hit by that big right hand and not even flinching.

50-45 is the likely result.

    • OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT memory by Pradeep Viswanathan OpenAI is rolling out a major upgrade to ChatGPT's memory, making the system more capable, current, and scalable across long-term use. Memory allows ChatGPT to remember useful details about users, including their preferences, projects, and constraints. Instead of starting every conversation from scratch, ChatGPT can use this context to provide more relevant responses in future chats. OpenAI first launched saved memories in February 2024. That feature allowed users to explicitly ask ChatGPT to save information into its memory, such as travel plans or writing preferences. However, this system had limits because it depended heavily on users giving clear instructions to remember something. Additionally, saved memories could become stale over time. In April 2025, OpenAI expanded memory by allowing ChatGPT to reference past chat context outside the saved memories list. This was powered by a background process called “dreaming,” which automatically curates memories from chat history. This made ChatGPT better at learning from natural conversation without requiring users to manually save every detail. Today, OpenAI announced a more capable and compute-efficient memory architecture built on top of dreaming. This new system improves ChatGPT’s ability to carry forward useful context, follow user preferences, and remain accurate as time passes. According to OpenAI’s internal evaluations, the new system improves factual recall from 67.9% in 2025 to 82.8% in 2026. Preference adherence improves from 55.3% to 71.3%, while accuracy over time improves from 52.2% to 75.1%. The best part of this new system is a new memory summary page where users can review ChatGPT's memories. Users can even update details, correct information, or give instructions on what topics ChatGPT should bring up and when. This new, improved memory system is available to ChatGPT Plus and Pro users in the US starting today. It will roll out to more countries, as well as Free and Go users, in the coming weeks.
    • I work for a video production company in Australia. The camera operators shoot footage and then pass the SD card over to the editors. Much easier than handing over the entire camera. Plus, on a busy day you can hand off the SD card and then pop another in for the next shoot. Or, you might have used multiple SD cards because you need the extra space for a long shoot. I also use USB cables and wifi for transferring footage, but in many cases an SD card reader is the easiest method.
