Games fatigue?

I think a part of it may be down to be starting to get whooped by 12 year old kids on Xbox Live, seriously I thought this wouldn't happen till I was at least 30. I'm 21, I'm still young this should not be happening to me.

Unfortunately I agree, and I tend to avoid online like the plague. It is just not fun getting "pwned" by what is essentially kids who I could literally be their father. I would have had a 12 year old when I was 25. I was 20 when current 17 year olds were born. So while some may not admit it, I totally will. Getting killed time and time again and hearing what is a kid on the other end talk trash just gets on my nerves. I just do not have the time to put into a game to get it to the point to where I am competitive, and that is with the fact most games I am able to usually hold my own just thanks to years of gaming, but I like to have a purpose so to speak when I am gaming. Constantly dying is not that purpose. That is why if and when I do play MP games, I almost primarily focus on team oriented modes.

So I actually think my own fatigue is partially to do with the above. When i was really playing a lot of hours per week, it was usually with MP games. UT2K4, Battlefield 1942, 2, and 2142. Counter Strike. COD when it was first released. I really used to enjoy online MP. I also had the time to put into them to get good. Nowadays, yeah, just not so much.

I went for a while only playing short-ish indie games (Super Meat Boy, VVVVVV, Shank, Lone Survivor, Bastion). I feel like their closer to the "old-school" game I grew up with, where you get the general idea of how to play down fast, there are some secrets, but not an overwhelmingly huge world to find them in.

Longer games, however, I'm having a harder time getting in to, but there are a few that will stick. Dark Souls, Skryim, played but couldn't bother with, Fallout and now Xenoblade, totally addicted to.

my taste in games has changed over the years. i used to really love horror games, but now i dont touch them. also, a lot of games are mentally and physically draining. when i get REALLY into a boss fight or something, i walk away and i feel tired haha. or when i finished ME3's Earth 2 battle, i felt like i just had a workout.

these days, i still play all the blockbuster games, but i can only do it for like 30-60 mins at a time. i think i sink more hours into silly games, like mario kart, that arent so involving or serious.

that being said, i just finished Arkham Asylum last night, and im also playing BF3... so idk.
