I deactivated my facebook account tonight. It's quite liberating, I must admit.. I'll post my withdrawls if I have any... I hear it's on par with quitting hard drugs (not being stupid)... we'll see. Please post your experiences.

i just login once a day for a minute or two to check notifications ONLY :D

I found it pretty relieving as well, about a year ago when I deactivated mine.

I haven't looked back even once - I don't think I have missed a single thing because of not having an account there.

After some time I did think though, why should they have all the data there even though I don't use it and don't want to use it - there is also an option to permanently remove the account: http://www.wikihow.c...acebook-Account

I don't really believe that they remove everything even by then, but it's worth a shot. :)

No reason to deactivate my Facebook account. Everyone who's anyone is on it, making it the best way to chat with people you need to talk to.

Plus it's the best for sharing photos of your trips/adventures, since once again everyone is on it and therefore it's really easy for your friends to find your pictures.

And it's not time consuming at all. It's as time consuming as the internet is in general. Sure you could spend 6 hours just looking at YouTube clips, does that mean you should deactivate your YouTube account and never visit again? No, just means you should learn to spend your time better!

I love youtube. This was never about how I spend my time. You're an ass "andrewbares", I never once said that I didn't know how to manage my time.

Thanks for the tips though. Thanks.

The intense emotional burden you experience must be traumatizing. Are you ready for Post-Facebook Stress Disorder ? First symptoms are usually manifested by sudden outbursts of going outside and not clicking on people, also opening your mouth when you adress them. (it'll be shocking hearing sounds)

Why do you think anyone cares

as for the people who claim they have to do it to reclaim their lives, or to see their real life friends or crap like that, having FB doesn't mean only the people on FB are your friends, it doesn't mean you have to put everyone you meet there, or that you need to post everything you do, or read everything everyone posts.

You don't need to delete to not waste your life there or see who your friends are, just use it differently, just use it for what it's mean to be, a place to gather old and new friends, manage your contacts, manage events with your friends and stuff like that.

Deleting your account and posting that you did so, it doesn't make you cool, it doesn't make you special.

too bad you can't update the status "i have deactivated my account" .

Ya that way people can know how cool you are and how you don't conform to something everyone else uses making you unique.

Deleting your account and posting that you did so, it doesn't make you cool, it doesn't make you special.

Who said it did? You seem a little offended?

I got totally sucked up by the Facebook fad. I wanted to be more "popular"/"cool?", and I thought at the time I was (embarrassing - but I admit it). I deactivated it for about 6-8 months before deleting it. So in theory, I stopped using it about 2 years ago and have done a hell of a lot of growing up since.

The way you use it is the way I, and many others on there, should have used it. But that wasn't the case. These kind of threads will either wind people like you up who use it sensibly, or could possibly give a wake up call to those that use it like I did. It all sounds a little drama queen'ish I know, but if it helps one person to wake the f up, then I'm all for it.

    • WordArt was cool. We now have color fonts as a substitute although Word only supports COLRv0 and COLRv1 (Fraud OS 11 only). The OpenType SVG color font format needs to be supported by Office. Adobe's apps support it
    • i backup my files, incl keepass to my proton drive using Syncback which i paid for (thanks Warwagon!). they have a free version but i can't remember what it does and doesn't do anymore. anyways, it's really, really simple and easy to use. i also periodically keep backups of my keepass onsite especially when i've changed or added a password that is important to me. if you don't wanna spend time on the syncthing setup, get syncback. haha i even got my dad to use it for his backups to usb and he doesn't even need my help!!! (thank god!)
