Is anyone else having issues with the "New Tab Page" and "Speed Dial 2"? For some reason, every time when I click on an empty space or outside of Chrome, a Google search page appears. Whenever I type in the search box, the "New Tab Page" or "Speed Dial 2" (depends on if I have SD 2 enabled) re-appear again.

Similar to this Google page?

seems Google are more serious about 64bit windows builds than Mozilla are with there lack of " serious 64 bit builds . what i mean by " Serious " atleast Google will atleast officially support the browser unlike Mozilla

i dont think there will be a 64bit windows build anytime soon made :(

Yeah, but it was all messed up in the Dev-build. It would appear whenever you'd click anywhere, either inside or outside of Chrome. It's odd that it happens even tough "Enable Instant extended API" is disabled :s

The new menu look from Zlip792's post above is in this build. Not sure if like.

wth? stick with native menus google!

It been several chromium snapshots and it is still showing and sticking with this menu style, so I think they ditched that old menus and I disabled many about:flags as well.

You can enable it. It's to do with touch sensitive interfaces flags.

If you override it it disables the funky menus.

Worry not ViperAFK.

Which flags enabled it, it is making my head fuzzy. Do tell me.

Dev Channel Update

The Dev channel has been updated to 26.0.1386.0 for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome Frame. This build contains following updates:

  • Fixed renderer form_autofill_util changes to support Checkboxes and Radiobuttons (Issue: 157636)
  • Fixed decoding of URL in bookmark editor (Issue: 165648)
  • Added the preferences and UI to make the launcher opt-inable (Issue: 151676)
  • Added incognito visualization to items in the new app menu (Issue: 169842)
  • Renamed the magnifier names: "Full" -> "Entire screen", "Partial" -> "Lens" (Issue: 166832)
  • Enable webkit preference for Chromium to disallow unsafe plugin pasting (Issue: 112325)

There is no way to disable the new-style menus as far as I can see.

For some reason my account was corrupted after a PC reboot yesterday. And now I can't seem to be able to log into my Google Chrome account. It shows me the account page and I login though it doesn't load the next page that's supposed to come up :s

Alright, fix it through the most obvious way: My account was still "signed in" but it asked for my password. I selected the option to sign in with a complete new account and re-entered my email and the corresponding password. Now it's logged in and all synced up again.

Edit: A question though. Has anyone had the Omnibox being part of a Google search page? Whenever I was searching on Google yesterday the Omnibox was part of the search page and the black bar of Google was gone (I hope I'm explaining this right). The Omnibox dropdown also looked a bit different and the "New Tab" page had a search field in it as well.

New menu look (might be some about:flags stuff (since I turned on many yesterday and feeling tired to find which one enabled it or might be work in progress):

This just landed in beta when I updated this morning. Still getting memory leaks and malformed pages after Chrome has been open all day. Seems there isn't a browser that can be open 24/7 and handle memory properly :/

Edit: by malformed pages, I mean just below the fold (visible area of the browser window) if I start scrolling before the web page has fully loaded, bits of the page will be "missing" showing only background. Text selecting the affected area makes that bit readable again. Fix is to close Chrome and then open it again, restoring tab sessions.

Maybe it's a known bug? I've had it for ages anyway. Bloody annoying!

In my experience Chrome is the worst of them all in this regard. Internet Explorer is by far and far the best browser in terms of memory management (for me), Firefox second and Chrome last. I haven't ran Opera or any other browsers in a while so couldn't say about them.

Yet Chrome is the browser I use... :/

Same mate, the lack of some of the add-ons I use for IE holds me back from switching :/

They should stick to native menus. I don't like inconsistency.

    • This saddens me greatly
    • Well again I do not mind seeing it charge my stuff if it does it well. "yeah charge my phone like that, charge it good"
    • Getting so tired of this push for that new useless slop over the less-useless old slop that at this point I just want M$ to have this nice, big, hearty cup of *FU*.
    • Brave Browser 1.91.168 by Razvan Serea Brave Browser is a lightning-fast, secure web browser that stands out from the competition with its focus on privacy, security, and speed. With features like HTTPS Everywhere and built-in tracker blocking, Brave keeps your online activities safe from prying eyes. Brave is one of the safest browsers on the market today. It blocks third-party data storage. It protects from browser fingerprinting. And it does all this by default. Speed - Brave is built on Chromium, the same technology that powers Google Chrome, and is optimized for speed, providing a fast and responsive browsing experience. Brave Browser also features Brave Rewards, a system that rewards users with Basic Attention Tokens (BAT) for viewing opt-in ads. This innovative system provides an alternative revenue model for content creators and a way to support the Brave community. SlimBrave Neo takes all the good things about Brave and makes them even better by keeping everything clean, light, and privacy-focused. It removes the extra clutter, turns off features you might not need, and cuts down on anything that could slow you down or collect unnecessary data. Because it relies on simple settings and policies instead of modifying the browser itself, you still get full Brave compatibility—just in a smoother, lighter, and more privacy-friendly package.
