windows 8 can still run any browser. only on ARM machines will you be restricted to IE (unless MS eventually decides to allow other browsers in the market)

Nothing stops Google from releasing Chrome-Metro in Windows RT as they have Chrome on iOS. They will need to use Trident instead of Webkit but that's pretty much what they did in iOS. Trident is equally faster for metro apps unlike iOS where the UIWebView component is gimped in favor of Safari (not sure if this changes in iOS6 though).

it's not in ios 6 afaik but just recently there was a jailbreak tweak that allows other apps besides just safari to use the nitro javascript engine now :)
