TheLegendOfMart
I have just started a new job a few weeks ago and ever since I started I have been waking up every couple of hours, like 5-6 times a night and come morning I still feel as tired as I did the day before. Does anyone else have this problem? Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1096883-wake-up-multiple-times-a-night/ Share on other sites

PNWDweller
Yes - but mine is to void my bladder (in Medical terms and SFW). I have learned that the older you get - the worse it can be. And yes, my male plumbing is just fine. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1096883-wake-up-multiple-times-a-night/#findComment-595071121 Share on other sites
TheLegendOfMart
What kind of food and drink? I drink lots of water during the day because of the hot, dry environment, when I wake up I don't feel the need to go to the toilet and my eating habits haven't changed since I started work. mmjm
stressed more? anxious? my boyfriend has had the same problem for some time now. he had a sleep study done couple years ago and they found nothing wrong. He said he found out not eating after 8pm helps solve the waking up or diminishes it. Not being stressed helps also Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1096883-wake-up-multiple-times-a-night/#findComment-595071131 Share on other sites

Mackster
Too much stress and too little physical exercise is usually the problem to many sleep problems. And yeah, don't eat too late and cut down on the meat. CG-88
I'm the same as well. I just started a new job with a new routine so I am having a really hard time adjusting my sleep pattern. The first week I was waking up about 5 times every night. So far this week it has been about 3 time a night and the only thing that has changed is I'm forcing myself to stay up a little bit later and eat as soon as I get home and having nothing for a few hours before bed. I don't feel tired and it doesnt bother me because when I wake up my dog comes and says hello then goes back to sleep :D Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1096883-wake-up-multiple-times-a-night/#findComment-595071531 Share on other sites
Chicane-UK Veteran Posted August 8, 2012 Veteran Share Posted August 8, 2012 Too much stress and too little physical exercise is usually the problem to many sleep problems. And yeah, don't eat too late and cut down on the meat. Probably is this. How much exercise do you do a week - do you go to the gym, etc? You could try getting some herbal Nytols just to see if they help you. Warlock6669
I used to have trouble sleeping through the night, even though I kept a fairly regular schedule and got plenty of exercise. It turns out that I have a gluten intolerance, and once I eliminated wheat from my diet, I lost 30 pounds in 4 months and no longer have any trouble sleeping through the night. GreenMartian
Stress does that to me. I have tried everything. The only thing that works on me is alcohol (know your limits). Probably won't recommend it to anyone though.. Do try other suggestions first. CG-88
A while ago I had major toothache and I was given strong painkillers and a mild anti depressant which has a side effect of making you sleepy. So a mild sleeping table and even though the toothache is gone I still take the antidepressant when I cant sleep. Few hours before I want to go to bed and it works a charm but its not something I Want to rely on long term. ANON86364
It's probably either stress or food/drink habits. Eating less than an hour before going to bed not only causes weight gain but can cause disturbances in sleep. Obviously drinking sugary drinks would also do this. I would bet on stress though. My girlfriend has a rare condition that we have found causes (among other things) her to stop breathing at night which causes her to constantly wake up. I only mention this because sometimes (most times) a doctor may dismiss your concern when there may well be something wrong. As to sleeping, I am usually OK once I fall asleep, but I have trouble dropping off (I think this is primarily due to me being nocturnal but having to keep a "normal" sleep schedule since I work first shift) most nights. I found a natural melatonin supplement that really helps (melatonin is the sleep hormone your body naturally produces), and I can also take one if I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep--doesn't make you drowsy the next day or whatever. It's really helped me, if I wake up at 2am and then my brain won't shut up, its a natural fix that doesn't have side effects or addictive qualities. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1096883-wake-up-multiple-times-a-night/#findComment-595076021 Share on other sites
