I don't know, it's hard to believe anyone noticed one guy talking on the phone during the movie. As far as American's obsessing over conspiracies, there's a reason for that. Governments don't tell the truth. The reason for the lies sometimes may be good, sometimes it may be bad. But we don't except things at face value just because someone says so. I'm not into conspiracies, I don't think the CIA shot JFK. I'm just saying that sometimes you have to look behind the curtain to make sure you know what is really going on.

The problem, of course, is that not trusting your government and inventing paranoid fantasies are 2 different things.

It might come out in trial that he called somebody (authorities, family, who knows). At least wait until after all the evidence is shown in court before starting the whole conspiracy talk.
