Emotionless and heartless. I hope TSA gives you special treatment next time you fly ;)

I don't do planes period. I do have a heart and emotions, I cried like a girl when my dad died that lasted for 12 years

My question is: Where were you on 9/11? Did it affect anyone personally?

On Times Square waiting for a tour through the NASDAQ MarketSite to start. Saw the second plane crash on TV within a huge crowd but nobody knew what was happening, so tour started anyway, plane crashed into the Pentagon, tour was cancelled, went outside, first tower collapsed, went to hotel, second one went down. Rest of the week me and my Dad were basically wandering aimlessly through an almost empty Manhattan waiting for the flight home. And we were in the WTC for the first time on Sunday. Creepy ****.

Home sleeping in bed...Yeah it was all over TV but, I didn't bother watching it not even cared to hear about it from others. I know when I was getting my class ring I had gotten a flag on one side and my mom said "You'll never forget what happened in September." tbh I told her I could care less what happened, and it doesn't affect me in any way shape or form...Harsh but true.

lol true

yes but your heartless cause you dont care about something that happened 11 yrs ago, even though there are MUCH worse things going on out there you have to care about this or your heartless.

I was living in Wales at the time. My family and I had just got back after going shopping (I remember buying Tribes 2 and being really excited about it) and shortly after getting back my Dad received a phonecall telling him to turn on the TV and switch to the news. We all watched the footage in disbelief, before seeing the second plane crash into the building live on TV - needless to say it was an incredibly memorable experience. I remember wondering what would happen next, as it seemed for hours that there was always something going on and new footage to be seen. We got in touch with my Mum who was at work at the DVLA and they had gone onto high alert because it's a government building - the UK was prepared for similar attacks happening here.

The sad thing is that the attacks were used to justify an illegal war which lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocents civilians in Iraq. While I initially had a lot of sympathy for the US that quickly evaporated.

Lets see Dad passed at 17, Grandmother died at 18 and my grandfather 4 months after and trying to stay focused on getting my diploma, Yeah to me those were way more important then Sept. 11. So there for I'm not heartless. Have a nice day sir and I do give you respect for being upfront.

Asleep here too. I didn't even know anything had happened until someone told me.

Also don't care...different reasons I'm sure.

now listen up all the people who died in 911 it was sad dont get me wrong BUT if any of my family was in there id be sad today

but there wasnt if any one on the board lost a love one than u will be sad and will be rememberd about it

im one of many who go on there merry day because 9-11 doesnt mean anything to us

so u get it now

we all live on the same planet, just because it's miles away from where you are, it should still mean something. you're human right?

I was working at the time that it all hit the news. I left work with a crate of beer and headed home, got indoors just as the second plane hit the tower. Strangely it is something that I remember. Do I care though? Not really, lots of things have happened in my life that affect me, this wasn't one of them. I appreciate people lost loved ones and friends in the tragedy, but I didn't so it's really had very little impact on my life or feelings.

At home watching the news with a very aware 4 year old who got the basics right away. Spent the rest of the day explaining the specifics of AQ etc. What got him most was the loss of the firefighters, cops etc. because there are so many in the family (grandfather = fire chief; uncle = firefighter/EMT; uncle = cop etc.) and that our military extended family would be going into action.

I remember working at an ISP at the time, tech support monkey on the phone and watching the live stream from CNN through bbc news. Can remember we left a message on the phones for anyone calling in that we wouldn't be taking any more calls (the owner of the small isp I worked for had family that worked in the towers and were lost).

Can still remember how harrowing it all seemed, even though I wasn't connected to the towers or even the city itself.

Living west of Toronto at the time, about to head to class as reports came in about the first tower. I ended up planted to my sofa for the rest of the day with tears in my eyes. I didn't know anyone personally affacted by the attacks, except for a friend's father, who was a local firefighter that went down with many others the next day to help out.

I remember that day VIVIDLY, and to be honest, it still gives me a lump in my throat.

    • I think you meant the "ntfs3" driver, but yes there have been a lot of fixes for it in this release and previous releases, not 100% sure if the issue you mentioned is fixed though. In any case, the new "ntfs" driver in 7.1 doesn't have that issue (at least, no reports of such have come thru), but your kernel needs to explicitly enable support for the new driver first (like how CachyOS kernel has it), and you need to edit your mount points in /etc/fstab to use "ntfs" instead of the other drivers.
    • Epic Games says Unreal Engine 6 will help developers "build content faster" using AI models by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Epic Games is rolling out the latest major update to Unreal Engine 5 today, and at the same time, the company also dropped some information on the next-generation version of the product, Unreal Engine 6. This was already revealed a few weeks ago alongside the new Rocket League upgrade reveal. The company says it is combining the features of Unreal Engine and Unreal Editor for Fortnite to create this new version of its popular media creation tool. On top of creating entire games, the new engine will also focus on letting developers operate large-scale live service titles more easily, whether by shipping content into their own ecosystems or into Fortnite. The use of large language models is also mentioned here, with Epic saying it will be a core part of the engine. "We see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need," adds the company. Here is the rundown of what's new about version 6 of Unreal Engine: With all these changes to the programming model, portability upgrades, and generative AI integration, Epic says the new version of the engine will "change a lot about how games are made." The company aims to ship Unreal Engine 6 into early access in late 2027, with a full release planned for 12-18 months later. Epic Games also dropped a lengthy blog post about the new Unreal Engine 5.8 update for game developers over here. The release is focused on delivering better performance, customization, and streamlined workflows for development teams. This will be the final major update for this version of the engine before Epic switches to focus fully on Unreal Engine 6's early access launch.
    • Watch Louis Rossmann's recent experience on YouTube about trying to get a warranty replacement from Samsung. It's crazy.
    • That is the thing, how many of these people don't realise they are using AI? If they use Google Search they have no choice but to use AI. So yes, maybe half of American adults do use and I expect a lot of Uk adults do to, but I bet most of them don't realise it. Myself, i avoid the rubbish.
    • They use FREE AI. They aren't paying for this meme-generating slopware...
