When it happen, the teacher went a bit crazy about it

People in my office were all "Well, this is the end of the world. America will retaliate in ways we've never seen. I guarantee you nuclear war within months". Hmmmmm. Quite frankly I was astounded by the immediate level of restraint shown.

I heard on the radio just as I was pulling in to parking for work, was lab assistant at a Community College.

It was very surreal. The college was closed early, I got lost trying to get home (several roads I go home were closed as precaution).

I remember how the cell phone system was jammed, and trying to pull up news sites from the internet were nearly impossible due to heavy load.

Also learned how many stations are owned by clear channel, all clear channel stations went to one audio feed.

The full impact didn't hit me until a few days latter.

Funny being so far away, when it happened, but it shocked me to the core! I was at a client, was quite early our time, we were busy and then the phone rang and a friend of my client just told us to turn the TV on and said goodbye. About 30 secs after we found the CNN channel the second aircraft hit and we just stood watching in horror and could not really grasp that what we were seeing was real. I went home after that and just followed what was happening on the telly. I will always remember that day as clearly as any.

I just walked out from a meeting at the back of 3 in the afternoon, and noticed it was on all the TV's in our call center.

It was amazing how quite the phones went for the couple of hours. Anyone complaining on the phone were told what was happening, it put a few things into perspective for them.

When I went home we had to explain to our daughter what was happening.

We were transfixed to the TV for hours.

I was playing out with friends when a neighbor asked me check the news. My initial reaction was, USA got back what they deserved. But I was just a kid & I value life more today. That was a tragic incident.

Something changed after Bombay blasts in 2006 & I look at every Muslim with an eye of suspicion.

You do realise, Ottawa Gamerz, that you are just coming across as a dick. Nobody is thinking "Wow, he's making a valid political point" or "Hmmm, maybe he's right", it's more "This isn't the place but he's too much of an jerk to know that" and "Hmmm, we've seen lot's of childish idiots get attention this way before". Go to New York, stand in Times Square and say what you are saying here - show the courage of your convictions if you genuinely believe the bull**** you are shilling!

I was in class when it happened... biology if I remember correctly. My high school reacted by telling every teacher to shut off televisions, confiscate every students cell phone (who had them out at the time), not allow students on computers, and not talk about the subject until school let out. The kids with parents who died in the trade center were silently pulled from classes.

That's stupid. Not everyone is a terrorist. The media only shows you the extreme end of the spectrum.

I agree but I have become a cynic. I have a few muslims in my neighborhood & their attitude towards the general society is not helping their case either.

I would hope that one doesn't believe everything the media tells them. It just tells me your mind is weak and you are extremely gullible - you have to be better than that...

Canada should be proud of your accomplishment. You've managed to make me think of all Canadians as insensitive, pretentious jackasses. And you did it all by yourself!

Out of interest, do you think that the 24 Canadians who died brought it on themselves as well?

Back on topic: I had just got back home and was told to flip on the TV to the news. Sure enough, we spent the rest of the time watching the events unravel. It was weird, knowing that there were friends of mine who knew people in that location as it was happening.

I was only 9 and on holiday with my parents but I remember being in the shower and hearing a loud explosion coming from the TV and asking my dad what he was watching but he didn't answer. When I got out of the bathroom my dad turned the TV off and I asked him a couple of times what it was but he kept brushing me off then later on when we headed down to the lounge it was on TV. Wasn't until a couple of years later that I put 2 and 2 together and that he was trying to stop me from having to see it.

I was in my office in Brooklyn right across from downtown Manhattan and watched it happen from my window. I tell you, watching those buildings come down was one of the most surreal things I've ever experienced. It's hard to believe it's been 11 years!

      Microsoft is bringing big performance improvements to OneDrive on Mac by Taras Buria Microsoft has announced a major update for the OneDrive client on macOS. Today, the company released version 26.098, promising significantly faster sync, optimized CPU usage, a smaller memory footprint, and better energy efficiency. In a newly published blog post, Microsoft acknowledged that changes implemented in OneDrive for Mac in 2022 brought some unwanted side effects. Due to architectural changes and the need to keep the OneDrive sync engine unchanged, Microsoft created a hidden cache folder. With time, it would cause reliability and performance issues for customers. Now, Microsoft is ditching the old engine for native sync, delivering a faster, more reliable experience. As a result of this change, OneDrive for Mac now integrates more deeply into the operating system, offers about two times faster sync performance, and uses fewer system resources. While the hidden folder still exists, the app only uses it to store files that have not been uploaded yet, link file types, and macOS-related packages. In total, even when holding hundreds of files, the temporary folder does not take more than a couple of megabytes on the drive. Besides optimizations, the new sync engine enables external drive support, allowing you to keep your OneDrive folder on a removable drive (it should meet all the requirements). Microsoft is now rolling out the updated OneDrive client for Microsoft 365 Insiders. To check if your Mac has the new sync engine, go to the About tab and check the app version. If it ends with something like 26H, you are on the new engine. If not, you are on the old one. Microsoft says it will take a few weeks to complete the rollout to Insiders, but it won't say when to expect the update in the stable channel. Big performance updates for OneDrive on Mac came right after Microsoft confirmed it would soon kill document editing in Office 2019 for Mac due to expiring certificates. This change will force users to look for alternatives or switch to Microsoft 365.

      Playground drops 30 minutes of Fable gameplay, shows off life sim and morality system by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Playground Games gave fantasy RPG fans a new look at its Fable reboot last Sunday at the Xbox Games Showcase. While that was a short cinematic trailer revealing the main villain of the storyline, played by Hayley Atwell, today, the development team released an entire gameplay demo to show off the game in action. There is some combat and action near the end of it, but most of the demo is focused on the game's NPC simulation, relationships, choices players can make, and the complex reputation system. The studio is touting over 1,000 hand-crafted NPCs who have jobs, homes, routines they follow in their villages and outskirts, and a memory of what is going on in the world and what actions the player has done. All of these are voiced by real people too. The demo begins with a short interaction with a butcher who wants to kill a talking pig named Colin. The protagonist chooses to save Colin by paying the butcher a bunch of gold for his troubles, giving the hero a rise in reputation for being shrewd, merciful, and virtuous. There were also options to simply let Colin get killed or even fight the butcher for the pig instead of paying him. The demo even shows the player deciding to attack random villagers and causing a ruckus in the streets, turning the hero into a criminal. This is where the magic combat systems are shown off, where the player can teleport, turn enemies into chickens, sword-fight, and more. "This is how you’ll build an extraordinary life in Fable. It’s all about shades of grey – it’s not us or the game telling you what is good and what is bad," says Dan Greer, Lead Game Designer. "With the Living Population, it’s the NPCs themselves judging your actions." Fable is releasing across PC and Xbox Series X|S on February 23, 2027. Premium Edition owners will be able to play starting on February 18 instead. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also be able to jump in at launch for no extra cost.

    • Phone Dilemma

      My current phone, on left, is starting to go to sleep, and not turning on, even though I press the power button 100 times. Like CPR.   I tried factory resetting it, and nothing changed. So it's the hardware failing. I currently am using Twigby as my service provider. Cheapest I can get around here. But all their phones are carp.. https://www.twigby.com/shop/twigby-phones A friend warned me about the Moto G, as his neice has one, and isn't that good at $130. Also the Samsung A15 is laughable at best. Everything else is expensive af. I want android, (hate iOS) any version, that works with Twigby, under $100, please.
