Assuming you want to use your phone for those tasks, you can get a free Android smartphone with a contract that can do that pretty well.

But I'm sure you don't want it, do ya? :)

I'm not pushing, I'm comparing and relating my experience.

But yes... I'm kind of frustrated because I can't have both. The iPhone 5 is beautiful. But that's it. I wont have it because I don't think showing of is important and I don't date phones.

I find these kind of articles really stupid as it doesn't incorporate the cost of R&D spent by the company in developing the hardware and software.

I would imagine a lot of careful consideration goes into pricing, first they have to cover all manufacturing and virtual costs, add a profit margin that they have to judge that would be acceptable to most people, typical, its worth what people are prepared to pay, get it wrong and somebody ends up on the chopping block and a company faces a disaster.
