I think it'd help cut down on the spam if the Post Count increasing was disable for that forum.

Isn't like you can actually hold real discussions most of the time in the jokes section anyways.

So people who want to spam it to get a higher post count, cant.

A good idea, I think. I've seen it work on other forums.

Hello

People now keep on posting topics about jokes which are just plain trolling and not being funny. I know everyone's humor isnt the same but in my and other members' opinion, these things should not be allowed.

Opinions?

Clearly the poster's computers should be confiscated by the Neowin World police -- and all monies refunded.

This was a Sig I created while i was a moderator. I had to change it though. LOL

It stands for "Neowin Police Department"

What a pathetic lot you are. This thread is created for the sole purpose to complain about jokes you don't find funny. Poster's in this thread habitually insult anyone who doesn't agree with them. All the while you pat yourselves on the back as if you've done something good by insulting. You people ruin Neowin. Try this, don't read anything I post. Problem solved. That simple. You save yourselves from looking like whiney bitches by making the posts in complaint. Seriously.

I know it's really hard for you to act like adults. but really it's the best thing. Again don't read the jokes I post. It ain't hard.

I vote to closed this useless whiney thread. It serves no purpose than to pass insult.

I agree completely. There are a couple of people specifically that seem to use the "Jokes and Funny Stuff" as a dumping ground for anything. A prime example was a thread titled "toothbrush" and the post just said something like, "where did I put it?" It was blatantly not a joke, and that is my issue. I can understand a joke that - in my opinion - isn't funny, that's fine. As the forum states, humour is subjective. But if I start a thread called "I like bungee jumping" and then post a picture of someone on a space hopper, it's obviously not an attempt at humour.

EDIT: That's a good point, Barney. I'm going to head to J&FS now and start working my way through the threads with a report button.

You sir don't watch standup comedy much. anyway, mine was an attempt at humor where your post was obviously not. Confirmed upon admission. Guilty of spamming. Ironic.

Wow, are we still going with this?

Ok, first I suggest checking out number 4 on this list. Random comments are not automatically hilarious.

Now, which post in particular are you talking about that was me spamming?

If everyone that didn't like your "jokes" didn't read them then you would be the only person left viewing them which comes right back around to the point of spam.

And yeah I totally agree, I've been on tonnes of forums where they do that.

What I don't get is all of you are concerned about others post counts. You must have no life. LoL

You got me, your jokes are so amazing and it's made me realise how superior you are to me so I just hate on you because I feel insecure.

The problem isn't the actual post count, it's that people with "no life" will post any old crap to make theirs higher which means more spam.

I may be new to posting on this site but I've read its contents since around 2006 and I have to say I agree with Turion.

Just don't read it if it doesn't interest you or you don't find it funny.

There is all kinds of threads in the forum I have NO INTEREST in and guess what I do... I don't read them

That's what I do most of the time and it's fine when you're just visiting JFS but on minispy, the original poster's name isn't displayed.

I love warwagon's most of the time (because of the comments as well) and some of Turion's (not as 'entertaining' since most comments are negative tbh :/)

Oh come on Turion, you know that your jokes are bloody awful. What is even worse is the fact that you come in this thread to defend yourself. You are the most useless troll ever. Just stop posting if you have literally nothing to contribute. While warwagon has a very very strange taste, at least he puts work in his material. And actually, some of his jokes are so strange that the "Wtf?" factor alone makes me like them. But yours? Just pointless. You must have something better to do with your time, I hope...

Well isn't that precious.

If it isn't funny, then don't laugh/chuckle/smile and reply. If it is funny, then laugh/chuckle/smile and reply. If you feel that someone is trolling, then please report their post(s) and the moderation staff will review it.

Humour is a very...individual thing. What you may find hilarious may be deathly boring for others. Don't be offended, nor flame users should your particular brand of humour differ.

    • Looks like no official TBW rating, which should be a required listing in my opinion for sites like Amazon (hell, put it on the box too.)
    • I think I understood the article fine. Online password managers open users up to more possibilities of getting hacked, and due to KeePass being offline and local it reduces the idea of getting hacked. If someone chooses to put their database online they're kinda missing the point. With regards to the idea of the on-prem idea, I would have two issues. I'm not sure about the first issue, but I wouldn't be surprised about them offering a cloud storage for the passwords that most wouldn't bother to switch off, regardless of if they went for on-prem or not. The second issue is that the on-prem solution for Bitwarden costs money, whereas KeePass is free and open-source (as far as I am aware). The article points out how to sync the database between devices, and I recognise that deficiency in security. But it isn't a necessity. So both services can offer a same idea, but one is free and the other isn't...choices, choices.... But to each their own.

    • I am not surprised because life is the product of a lot of biochemical and physical processes that releases various energies as a by-product. The only thing new here is the detection of these photon emissions. The researches noted this "glow" is not a metaphysical one. They don't even immediately end when one is dead. Things like fires, light bulbs, and on a bigger scale stars release a lot more "light" and they are hardly alive.
