Editorial news calls quite a lot of people Idiots

Particular editorial made myself spill a bit of coffee this morning.

Weren't you supposed to at least filter or proof check your news neowin? What the hell is this? This is the first time in quite a long time that I see an article like this in my long history of being registered and not in Neowin.

I'm quite ashamed of this individuals particular behavior since I have seen some post moderated for less. I want then that the moderators of Neowin apply the same logic with this editorial.

You might want to look up the term "editorial." By definition it's an opinion piece, and if the author thinks that someone is an idiot (for whatever reason) then they can say so.

And so that gives you right to call others Idiots... yeah! I'm gonna put in my next post "Editorial" to see if it works the same.

Difference, even in an editorial, you need some sort of restraint, calling people idiots and calling for them to be shot is a bit extreme.

And he still raises a valid point. If it does fail, it's not going to fail for the same reasons Vista did, so it's not the next Vista :p You can still be all for against 8, it's point is people shouldn't be misappropriating it as Vista 2.0. Regardless, looks like idiots != idiots. Also, there was no calling for people to be shot.

The shill level just seems to go up and up these days, it's sad to see a tech forum turn into one giant advertisement for Microsoft products.

If it's the next Vista in the mind of people who pay then it is.

I'm concerned by the fact that you're a moderator, and you can't even read correctly (or didn't even bother to read the article in question).

"not only does it make you sound dumb", "The next person who says that Windows 8 is the next Vista deserves to be kicked in the shin, twice"

Yeah there was.

He edited it after the fact.

Pretty funny how fast you guys back flipped though.

Whether you agree that 8 is going to be a success or not, his attack was at the stupidity, not your points of view.

Either way I thought it was amusing >.<

To put it on context, my first comment on the article was:
Hear hear.

I approve of this article.[/quote']

Which has 41 likes. He can't be doing it all wrong if this many people agree with him.

The author didn't call anyone an idiot in the article.

Only Geoff Duncan of DigitalTrends, Sean Ludwig of Venturebeat, John C. Dvorak of PCMag & Jamshed Avari of Chip Magazine.

Oh and of course he also said anyone who says it's the next Vista is an idiot, dumb, lowers the IQ of those around them and should be shot. But he later edited out the "should be shot" comment.

err...read the title

I did read the title. It says that people will look like idiots, not that they are idiots. The two things are completely different.

Additionally, the article wasn't aimed at individuals so it's impossible to see how anyone could be personally offended.

No, he didn't say that. You're paraphrasing.

Funny how most of the people here who are offended are the same people calling others MS Fanboy's, accusing them of drinking to much MS cool aid when they don't agree with their opinions and so on.

I think it's just plain funny

The metro crybabies are really up in arms over this, Good to see they have something to do other than filling every windows 8 news-piece with

"Zog interface designed for touchscreens zog"

...What did that have to do with my post? I'm 100% certain I read it correct, as there's no shooting in that quote, nor saying anyone's an idiot. There's saying you sound dumb for saying something that sounds daft, not, "you're all idiots".

    • Thanks, Sony and Nintendo, you effectively killed platform-agnostic gaming. Long gone are the days when you could wish to play a specific game on whatever platform you were. Now, you have to buy the hardware just to play that single game. What, you're only interested in THAT game and nothing more? Bad luck, suck it and buy our console.
    • The AI data centers need it more than us so...let them gobble it all up at that price!
    • "CRAZIER than ever!" Crazy Taxi: World Tour is officially coming soon by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sega announced it is working on bringing back some of its classic franchises in 2023, and while it has taken some time, the company finally gave fans a look at one of these new projects at the Xbox Games Showcase today, which turned out to be a brand-new Crazy Taxi entry. Watch the debut trailer above, which has snippets of gameplay in between the cinematic bits while blasting a track from The Offspring. Dubbed Crazy Taxi World Tour, this installment is aptly being described as being "CRAZIER than ever!" The director behind the original, Kenji Kanno, is helming this new entry as well, which will come with access to five new cities to drive in, competitive multiplayer modes, a vehicle customization system, and more. Axel is returning as a protagonist as well, but this time a mystery driver is offering him the opportunity to take his adventures to the streets in other countries. This will involve Axel chasing down masked villains that have somehow stolen his taxi, which means even more extreme missions and challenges to overcome. "From transporting passengers at top speed to tackling unique side missions and odd jobs across dynamic maps, there are countless ways to drive crazy and rake in big money," says Sega about this new installment after over 20 years. "Perform outrageous drifts, catch insane air, and drive at crazy speeds across five different cities as you work to deliver passengers and complete a variety of missions and challenges." The studio has even confirmed an in-game Arcade Mode that players will be able to access containing the original games for plenty of nostalgic action. Crazy Taxi: World Tour is currently slated to release sometime in 2027 across PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
    • This and Crazy Taxi are the two games that interested me the most from this showcase.
