My old boss will fire tons if Obama elected

Huge corporations do but not that many small to moderate business do.

The size of a buisness doesn't reflect how much money they have in the bank. This is problem right now. Tax cuts that are costly to the government aren't going to get employers to start hiring again. The conditions of this economy are competely different than the bush/reagon years.

You know, thats funny right there. I used to work for someone that had a small business, and 10 employees. To say he didn't have money would be a joke. He used to go on 10-12 trips a year for a week at a time to the tune of $5k to a Mexican resort, and bill it to the company. I never personally cared what he did with his cash or the companies, as long as I had a job, but then he told me I had to take a 3$/hour pay cut for 'expenses'. I told him to shove it down his ass and quit. THATS the main reason this country is going to hell. Greed. That 50,70k a year he was wasting in Mexico could have paid his 'expenses' no problem at all. When I left, he hired someone else at 10$/hour. I was making 20 as a licensed electrician. Now I own my own business, and directly compete with him, and he HATES it. But I love it :D Oh, and I do plan on voting for Obama. I do not like Romney at all. If he wants to hike taxes up, do it. I can afford it.

And THIS is what America is built on. I friggin love it! Congrats!

IMO ... We need to knock the repuplicans and democrats around at LEAST one year and vote for a third party ... Found this guy after 60 seconds of searching, and already seems like a better candidate than either Obama or Romney.

Maybe then, we'll have some actual decent competitors that know what the hell is going on in our country. Not the 1% that doesn't know about the other 99%, or the black guy that was going to "change the world" but has barely changed his own smirk in 4 years.

I got the best job ever and my largest raise ever under Obama..

And on yeah, my pre-existing conditions are covered. w00t.

Take that mr bad business owner

Oh, and my Facebook response to my old co-worker that posted it and turned it into a debate. I was being sarcastic btw...

I feel he would just take the tax breaks and use the money to finish his house and continue his lavish lifestyle instead of growing his business and create more jobs. Rich hoard; while it can be argued that the things bought and his house being built in and of itself stimulate the economy and create jobs, I can't but help feel more New business and jobs would be created if the money was put in the hands of the middle class; the middle class is on a mission to survive not be complacent with content like a wealthy person. If you're wealthy why would you work harder for your next bill, but if your poor or middle class wouldn't you ramp up production to meet the demand of a outstanding bill ?

This is what history tells us always happens when you put more money in the hands of the wealthy and jack up corporate profits. And why would it do anything else? There's no market pressure to increase wages or hire.

Just look at our last corporate profit repatriation holiday, for instance. It was all hyped up as going to create jobs, increase wages, etc. What did it actually do? CEO bonuses.

Why do people continuously fall for this supply side bull****? Wages go up and businesses hire when they're forced to by competition for workers (And collective bargaining), increased demand (Ultimately from consumers), and similar pressures in the job market. Nothing else.

He did. When he started this house he fired 22 people in one day. Then 10 the next, 15 the next so on and so forth.

Read my posts on facts and math behind Romney's purposals a good portion of what the democrats say about Romney is factual.

I don't get why he'll fire any of his staff if Obama gets re-elected, there isn't one thing Obama purposes that will cost the US government unlike Romney's plans.

Its what it will cost businesses, not government. Obama's proposals and agenda will cost businesses tons, and many businesses will have to downsize as many already have.

I think the employers call is clear. His taxes go up he will take peoples job to maintain his lavish lifestyle. It may be selfish but its legal and fair.

On the other hand if he were getting a tax incentive for hiring more people, he'd do that and everybody would win.

Obama is very anti-business.

Exactly, the guy doesn't know squat about macro economics.

Haha, nice. Make it about his lifestyle and not his business. He is clearly evil because he cares about himself more than his employees, right? Why does anyone start their own business? If you say anything but "to make money" you are wrong. Companies started for any other reason do not succeed.

Tax incentives wouldn't do anything. There is no way to create a tax incentive for hiring people unless you do away with medicare/caid, payroll tax, Unempl. ins tax, etc that are direcrly related to hiring. The only way to increase hiring activity in any business is to allow the business to keep more of their revenue, period. This means lowering the marginal tax rates as well as the employment taxes to incentivitze growing the business. Business owners will not hire more people if it doesn't make monetary sense for their business.

Is it even legal to fire someone for no reason in USA ? If yes then i'm surprised.

Unfortunately, yes. Maybe not in every state, or in the same degree in every state, but people get fired for little or no reason all the time.

Yes it is legal to fire someone for no reason in some states. The states that allow this are called "at will" states I think. it means you can be fired at will but you can also quit at will. you do not have to give advanced notice you can quit any job at any time.

Tell that to Apple. :D

Apple is relatively small compared to other corporations. Check them out and you will see they make a lot of money but employee thousands less.

    • The concern of this article is not getting "hacked". No one is taking over my Google account and anyone that was is far away from self-hosting their passwords. It was about your big tech account of choice deciding to reduce features or getting out of the password manager business altogether. Bitwarden (or say Proton) is professional security company offering opensource solutions. They are going no where and one can easily download or export their passwords to another password manager service regardless. They again also offer self-hosted option. I doubt many people were sold on this solution based on the write up. The author had a number of warnings and caveats themselves. A local, self-managed solution is not for 99% of users.
    • I've owned nothing but ATi/AMD GPUs since 2002, after my last nVidia GPU in 2001 (3dfx before that), IIRC, and in all of that time I recall getting this error maybe once, certainly no more than twice. Despite all the scuttlebutt as to how poor AMD drivers are supposed to be that has certainly not been my experience at all... Usually it has been a configuration problem of some kind. Then again, since we're dealing with OS versions that are EOL, it could easily be an OS version discrepancy. It's still weird to think that Win11 has been officially out for more than five years!
    • AI will never be the jobs panacea some companies fantasize about today. Oracle is likely using it as an excuse, which we will see a lot of companies doing, I'm certain. They love their "plausible" excuses for their downturns. A couple of weeks ago my wife asked me to call Krogers about some discrepancy in a online grocery order, and it will be the last time either of us does that. I'll just do emails with humans from now on... The AI experience was horrible--the obviously recorded voice started asking a bunch of questions about our orders six months prior(!) and saying, "Is this in reference to your order on January 6, for $****?" You say "No!" and immediately the next question is "Is this in reference to your order on January 29th, for $****?" again, I answered "No!"--and it was incredible--on and on it went like that for fully 20 minutes until we finally got to the present, and only then was I put through to a human with authentic intelligence... I wondered why on Earth the idiot AI didn't start with the most recent orders and work back from there, as it was something anyone with a functioning brain would have done. And why didn't the AI have enough sense to ask me what the problem was in the first place? It didn't take too much deduction to understand that the goal of this "AI" was to cause the person on the phone to hang up in disgust, with no resolution of the problem. That begs another question: why pay for a tool-free problem line if the goal is to avoid solving your customer's problems?... Fortunately, Krogers does have real humans capable of reading an email and understanding it, and if she sees another situation in the future that's route she or I will take. The online grocery delivery service from Krogers has been great, over all, but their AI truly sucks.
    • AI is the justification that company administrators use to lay people off; it is not the end all, be all touted in the media (many of whom can't tell a microchip from a potato chip). Greed is main driving factor behind its adoption; the other is remaining relevant in the face of competition from other entities.
