Is Neowin under attack from a Viral Marketing firm?

Recommended Posts

Actually, I'm more concerned about the flood of Surface and Lumia articles on the front-page - it's getting ridiculous. They get way more coverage than better selling devices like the iPad and Galaxy S3. There is a clear pro-Microsoft agenda being pushed by Neowin and it's been like this for a while now. I appreciate that the website has always had a strong focus on Microsoft but I've been visiting Neowin regularly for over ten years and there has been a very noticeable shift in agenda. Neowin is little more than a Microsoft marketing site now.

2 devices that arent released yet shouldnt get coverage because there are other devices that are released that are better selling. got it

Are you honestly trying to suggest that Neowin's coverage of the Surface tablets and Lumia phones is at all proportional to their relevance in the market place? The iPad and Galaxy S3 never received the same level of coverage before their release yet they were follow-ups to the most successful products in their respective markets. As for the fact that the Surface hasn't been released yet, analysts expect it to sell 3 million units this year - that compares to the iPad which sold 3 million units in one weekend.

There isn't equal moderation between Front Page News and the rest of the forums.

Mods tend to unjustly delete anything negative and issue unfair warnings to posts in Front Page News.

This is why you mostly only see supporting comments. Undue censorship. Good job Neowin!

That is completely false. The same moderators moderate the front page that moderate the forums, and the policy/rules is/are the same for both parts of Neowin.

Well done for providing proof and examples to back up your unfounded, erroneous accusations, though (Y) :) Good job! :)

When Neowin began, it was about a wide spectrum of different tech related news. Now, it seems to be Microsoft splattered everyone, with a sprinkle here and there of everything else. It's actually really sad, considering I have been frequenting this site since it began. I guess the big boys running Neowin are being paid nicely by MS in order to have this be NeoWINDOWS.

Considering Microsoft just launched the biggest Windows release since 95, game changing hardware, and a business wide re-alignment, what else do you expect to see?

besides the fact that it's Neo(new) win(Windows)

that is what the name actually stands for and what it has always stood for

Frequenting: I don't think that word means what you think it means.

How can he if it's true that they get deleted?

On the flip side, why my haters troll every win8 topic and turn it into an argument?

It's unavoidable it seems both sides are just as bad as each other with regards to minding their own business

it's impossible for anyone to make a thread asking "how to change X about windows 8" without someone starting an argument saying something a long the lines of "Microsoft provided it this way you are daft for having a preference" hot topic for that is the start menu

No one likes anyone to be happy and to hell with anyones opinion on anything and so forth

There may be other ways for him to provide proof (I'm not sure because it doesn't happen). But that's up to him to figure out. If someone makes a bold claim like that, they should be able to back it up with evidence and prove it. As it stands, not only did he erroneously accuse Neowin of doing something it isn't doing, he was very rude about it.

Grow up already. Don't like what's posted on Neowin? Go some place else.

MS is revamping their entire ecosystem. It SHOULD get massive coverage since, you know, MS' software runs on a billion computers.

Win: windows

I dont use microsoft software except for being forced to at work

/Facepalm Frequenting: I don't think that word means what you think it means.

frequentingpresent participle of fre?quent

Verb: Visit (a place) often or habitually: "bars frequented by soldiers"; "one of the most frequented sites".

You're probably right, it definitely doesn't mean what I thought.

Pick up a Dictionary once in a while, will ya? Or maybe a Thesaurus. I'm sure it will broaden your speech capabilities.

The fact that you feel offended by my comment, takes away from your "grow up" commentary. I didn't mean it in a negative fashion, per se. I still come here quite often. However, in it's infancy, this site had a lot more to read. I get it, Microsoft is trying to deviate from it's origins. But, there are other things going on around the tech world.

Considering Microsoft just launched the biggest Windows release since 95, game changing hardware, and a business wide re-alignment, what else do you expect to see?

Yes, well, it seems every Windows release is "the biggest release since 95".

Windows 95 was a big deal, because it was quite the game changer, to say the least. Windows XP was also quite the milestone in a lot of aspects, and I will say the same for Windows 7. But, quite frankly, Microsoft is becoming quite stale. They throw out one good thing, and follow it up with a few disasters. And to be quite honest, at this point in time, they are trying to play catch up in many aspects. I am a hardcore Windows fan, I have had my hands on it since 95, but Microsoft is quite the roller coaster ride as of late.

You're probably right, it definitely doesn't mean what I thought.

In your quest to educate me you missed my point entirely, which is quite humorous.

You can rest assured that my education was top-notch. It however appears that your knowledge as regards pop culture and the concept of being sardonic are woefully lacking.

I've certainly noticed that the most offensive people on the front pages, or those with ridiculously strong views (who get very upset if you disagree with them) are almost always users with sub 200 post count... they're very rarely regular members with a high post count.

To be honest though I've seen plenty of enthusiasm for Windows 8 in the general forums as well so I'm fairly convinced that there are just some members who never dare venture past the front page and keep their vitriol and opinions to the front page stories only.

    • So, recently, I saw on the news (yes, on this website) that Samsung is introducing features where it can provide education using AI-powered sets, and because of this, I got concerned about whether the AI gives out wrong info during education sessions, causing controversies in the process. What are your thoughts on this?
    • TCL's Bang & Olufsen soundbar is 40% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The TCL Design Series A65K is currently $299.99, down from $499.99. That's 40% off and $200 saved on a soundbar tuned by Bang & Olufsen, which is not a combination you'd normally expect at this price point (purchase link below). Bang & Olufsen doesn't typically show up in the sub-$500 category. The Danish audio brand is known for speakers that cost several times more, so having their acoustic tuning on a $300 soundbar is very appealing. TCL handles the hardware, B&O handles the sound engineering, and the result is what the company calls "accessible luxury." Still, accessible luxury isn’t full-fledged luxury, so don’t expect wonders. But this is a decent soundbar, nevertheless. The A65K is a true 3.1.2 channel system with nine physical drivers, including genuine up-firing height speakers for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Many soundbars at this price simulate overhead effects through virtual processing, rather than actual hardware. So, you’re getting the real deal. The design is unusually slim for a system with Atmos compatibility. The bar is just under 2 inches deep and should fit beneath most TV screens. The wireless subwoofer is also compact at roughly 14 x 14 x 5 inches. Total output is 460W, and you can connect to the soundbar via HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 5.3, or USB. There are also eight sound modes through the TCL Home app and an AI calibration capability. Although it’s worth mentioning that AI capabilities in most of these devices are inconsistent, to say the least, and that shouldn’t be the biggest selling point. Still, at $299.99, the A65K is a strong buy for anyone who wants a soundbar that sounds and looks noticeably better than what this price range usually offers. And the Bang & Olufsen branding surely sounds nice - pun intended.
