I'm not sure you guys are really understanding what this condition actually does. Kind of admire your naivety in a messed up sort of way...

Lol I just imagine that room in alien resurrection and the messed up chick in the corner crying and moaning "kill me, kill me!" and these guys coming in saying with a big smile saying "don't kill her life is too important"      :) :/  I bet they would change their tune if your entire life was unending pain

I'm confused, I thought emotions (him smiling), more importantly, that motor function was controlled by the brain...? No brain... how does he do anything? Explain please.

Motor functions, breathing, heart rate, reflexes, and some miscellaneous functions are controlled by the brain stem.... He could live, move to some degree (though likely with no coordination or.... "intent," for lack of a better word) It's definitely possible for him to live... I, personally, just discount the idea that he could show emotion and be reactive in any more than an instinctual way.... I think sometimes people, especially parents, see what they want to see... Which is why they say he could do x, y, and z when his brain stem is simply incapable of doing so.

Exactly, zero brain = zero life. What he had was a malformed brain. Misleading story is misleading.

Its not though if you guys read it. It states he was born with a brain stem which includes all of the parts necessary for basic living (motor capabilities and the autonomous actions that keep your body alive).

Thanks for the response!

Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. The Tor software protects you by bouncing your communications around a distributed network of relays run by volunteers all around the world: it prevents somebody from watching your Internet connection and learning what sites you visit, it prevents the sites you visit from learning your physical location, and it lets you access sites which are blocked. The Tor Browser Bundle lets you use Tor on Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux without needing to install any software. It can run off a USB flash drive, comes with a pre-configured web browser to protect your anonymity, and is self-contained.
