GLENDALE, Calif. -- Nestle USA is recalling some of its Nesquik chocolate powder because of a possible salmonella risk.

The food maker said today that the Nesquik involved was in 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7-ounce canisters produced in early October and sold at retailers across the country.

Nestle says it is issuing the recall after its ingredient supplier, Omaya Inc., decided to recall some of the calcium carbonate used in the product due to possible Salmonella contamination. The company says there are no reported illnesses associated with the product.

Salmonella can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever. It can be life-threatening in infants, the elderly, pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems.

The affected products have a "Best if sold by" date of October 2014.

The recall includes the following products and unit production codes, which are located on the bottom of the canister:

40.7 ounce powder with UPC 0 28000 68230 9 2282574810 2282574820

21.8 ounce powder with UPC 0 28000 68090 9 2278574810 2278574820 2279574810 2279574820 2284574820 2284574830 2285574810 2285574820 2287574820 2289574810 2289574820

No other varieties of Nesquik powder are in the recall.

Nestle said that consumers who bought the affected Nesquik products should not use it and can return it for a refund or contact Nestle Consumer Services at 800-628-7679.

Why would that scare you? It's a powder that you keep in a closed container. :p

If that scares you, then you should see some of the old preserves I used to eat. The older canning methods keep indefinitely as long as it was done properly.

i hate it since it was called nesquik instead of just quik it was better at just quik and it tasted better at quik and was yummy and i used to drink quik. i drank strawberry quick and chockolate quik and sometimes both chockolate quick and strawberry quick together but now i dont drink quik cuz they stopped it and all we got is nesquik knockoff quik and they shut regular quik down.

      Apple reportedly looks to blacklisted Chinese memory chips as RAM prices climb by Karthik Mudaliar Image via Apple Apple is reportedly trying to get a clearance from the Trump administration to buy memory from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) to get some relief from soaring DRAM prices. As per a report by the Financial Times, Apple approached the Commerce Department more than a month ago and also spoke to other officials and allies in Washington. For starters, CXMT is a company that's already been placed on the Pentagon's list of Chinese military companies. The Chinese company is the country's top DRAM maker. For Apple, the timing is certainly awkward but not surprising. Tim Cook had recently warned that Apple would have to raise prices because AI companies are buying up large amounts of memory for data centers, and just like that, Apple raised MacBook and iPad prices. Micron also recently revealed that customers have committed billions of dollars to secure memory supply years in advance, which shows us how aggressive securing infrastructure has become. This gives suppliers such as Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron more leverage, while pushing hardware makers to look for alternatives. CXMT is one of those alternatives, but not the simplest one. Apple has spent many years trying to diversify parts of its supply chain away from China, especially for final assembly, while still depending heavily on Chinese manufacturing and suppliers. Even domestic brands from China are moving towards CXMT and YMTC instead of relying on Samsung, Micron, and SK Hynix. For Apple, though, it would invite more scrutiny than local Chinese companies. For now, this is more like a lobbying effort rather than a confirmed supply deal. There's no official statement from either of the parties. You had me until "and plenty of built-in AI features." That and any company that still does the iProduct naming trope is an immediate pass. It suggests the company isn't very imaginative or creative and is trying to piggyback off another company's success. Extremely lame. Also kind of expensive. Better choices at lower prices out there.
