Rappy Veteran Posted December 8, 2012 Veteran Share Posted December 8, 2012 Back in 2010, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland was a huge hit for the studio, making more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office. It also won Oscars for art direction and costume design. So, of course, they are hoping to make a follow-up and they hired Linda Woolverton to write the script. Woolverton wrote the first film, and she also worked on classic animated film like Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King.Disney has a couple of big budget fanatasy films coming up, including Sam Raimi's Oz the Great and Powerful (which visually looks a lot like Alice in Wonderland) in 2013, Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie in 2014, and they are also devolping projects like Cinderella and Magic Kingdom. There is no word on whether Tim Burton will return to direct the sequel. Source
