Women outraged when waiter brings check calling them 'Fat Girls'

STOCKTON, Calif. - When we pick up the check, we can sometimes expect it to hurt a little, but what happened Thursday night to three Stockton women, is another story. Now, they want the restaurant to pay.

Christina Duran and her friends had enjoyed their evening at the Cameo Club Casino's restaurant, but when the check came, Christina couldn't believe her eyes.

"I got the bill, and I was like, why does the receipt say, 'fat girls?'" Duran said.

At first, her friends assumed she was joking.

"I was laughing at her, and she was like, 'I'm serious.' I'm like, 'No, it does not say fat girls, let me see it,'" said Christina Huerta, who was also at the table along with Isabel Robles.

"[Huerta] was like, 'You're lying,'" Duran said. "And I was like, 'No, I'm serious. Look at it.' She was like, 'fat girls?'"

"I was like, 'Give me that,' and I'm looking at it. I was like, 'Oh, heck no,'" Robles said.

When the server returned, he denied having anything to do with it. He explained that, Jeff, the name on the receipt, must have been the one who typed the words into the system, but Jeff was gone, so the three demanded to see a manager.

"He had like a smirk on his face, like if it was funny, but he was trying not to laugh," Huerta said, describing the manager.

The manager apologized, but his first reaction was to offer 25 percent off the bill. The ladies were shocked.

"He was like, 'Well, I can do 50 percent,' and we were just like, are you serious?" Huerta said.

Huerta took a photo of the receipt, and although she was embarrassed, she wanted others to see it. The women said they can understand why people will laugh when they first hear this story, but after awhile it's no laughing matter.

"It's not," Robles said as she started to cry. "It's not funny. I can just see it over and over again, and I still can't believe it. They labeled us 'fat girls.' It's just something we got to deal with."

News10 asked the management at the Cameo Club Casino how something like this could happen.

"I was really appalled, obviously, at the behavior," Bar Manager Jimmy Seimers said.

Seimers wasn't working the night this happened, but when he found out, he questioned Jeff who, Seimers said, admitted to typing the words into the system.

"I don't think he understood completely because he was busy last night, but that's just no excuse," Seimers said.

Seimers said Jeff was suspended as management continues to investigate the incident; he added the investigation would probably not find anything to save Jeff's job.

Even though the restaurant is investigating the incident, Seimers wants apologize to the women.

"I just want to tell them that we're sincerely sorry for that, and that we'll do everything in our power to make sure that this never happens to anyone ever again," Seimers said.

Nonetheless, it isn't clear if anything can make up for the damage done.

"I still can't believe it," Huerta said. "I still can't get that out of my mind, what happened to us. I still can't believe that somebody would put that on a receipt."

"They can't change it," Robles said. "This is something that we got to live with, all three of us."

Several managers at the casino said this was an isolated incident and that a relatively new employee responsible. They also said they hope these three women will return to the casino, so that the managers can apologize in person.

Well, to be fair to the restaurant staff... they are fat girls (see video).

I'm short, I've been referred to as the "short guy", my friend is bald he's been referred to as the "bald guy", these girls are fat, thus "fat girls", I'm not sure what there is to be "outraged" about, if you don't want to be called fat then lose some weight.

Would it make it more comforting to know that most salespeople do it all the time, only after their clients have left? Jeff slipped and fell hard, can't feel sorry for him. However, can't feel sorry for fat girls ordering fries and coke, too.

Oh my god. Yea, the staff that did that were *******s, and someone deserves to be fired. But you're not skinny, some people are *******s, you don't need have a traumatic episode just because you figured that out. Go on with your lives.

Seriously?? -> "They can't change it," Robles said. "This is something that we got to live with, all three of us."

How about spending some time on a treadmill and getting exercise?

maybe they should have written obese? its not like they were wrong?

if the waiter wrote hot girls (assuming they were) then would it be a problem? no......

it was an accurate and funny description

Soon the society will see obesity as normal, since most people around them are the same. It's your health, it's your choice. However, it is really annoying me that someone who sits next to me on the air plane or bus, is also leaning over to my space.

I'm an overweight fellow, people call me fat, I usually act shocked like they'd been the first to ever let me know.

It is hard for people who are overweight to lose weight, and it is hard for some people to not become overweight. We should keep that in mind: Controlling oneself is very hard, when one craves a lot of the unhealthy food. But having said that, I believe fat people should accept the reality and they shouldn't be offended if people describe them as fat. It isn't an insult; as others have pointed out, it's just like describing someone who has blonde hair or dark skin, isn't it?

Y'know, large people don't WANT to do that. They hate it every bit as much as you hate it.

    • Didn’t Dbrand once complain that Casetify was ripping off their designs a well? seems pretty bad of them to try and get around Valve’s copyright this way with that in mind.
    • Dbrand thought they could get away with this Steam Machine case, Valve disagreed by David Uzondu Image via Dbrand Dbrand has cancelled its highly anticipated Companion Cube enclosure for the Valve Steam Machine, which it teased back in November of last year with a concept render and sign-up page, because it did not ask Valve for permission first before manufacturing the case. According to Dbrand, it took the "backwards approach" of building the product first before asking for permission from the copyright holder. Seven months of work went into the project, requiring over a thousand engineering hours from the design team. Workers developed forty-four sets of injection molding tools, making a unique mold for each sub-component of the crate. When the Companion Cube went live on Monday last week, it, according to Dbrand, quickly became the second-fastest-selling product in the company's fifteen-year history, racking up orders for hundreds of thousands of units. Customers eagerly bought the $129.95 deluxe edition or the bare-bones $99.95 version, which the manufacturer cheekily branded as the "Poverty Cube". It was around this time that the legal eagles at Valve descended on the accessory maker with a formal demand. The developer pointed out that the iconic block design remains protected intellectual property from the game Portal, so unlicensed sales had to stop. Dbrand said that all its pleas to salvage the project with the Valve team, including proposals to run a properly licensed release under official terms "with their blessing", fell on deaf ears, so it had no choice but to obey and remove every trace of the product from the internet. If you bought the enclosure, the company said that banks will process your refund by the end of this week, but if it still hasn't arrived in your account by then, you should not hesitate to contact support. The Steam Machine itself is a high-performance console that Valve designed directly to bring PC gaming into the living room. It was announced on 12th November 2025 (the same day Dbrand announced the Cube) and runs on the Linux-based SteamOS, the same OS that powers the Steam Deck. As for the price, due to the shortage of memory and storage chips, the hardware cost landed much higher than people were expecting, starting at $1,049 for the 512 model (without a controller) or $1,128 with the new gamepad. The premium 2 TB model pushes those prices even higher, selling at $1,349 for the standalone console and hitting $1,428 if you want the bundle.
    • It's listed #399.99 on Amazon, per your link. It's not $299.99.
