Women outraged when waiter brings check calling them 'Fat Girls'

Recommended Posts

Just take some personal responsibility and lose some weight. It's ridiculous that people have to apologize for stating the truth nowadays. It is even more ridiculous that people get offended when confronted with said truth. Was it nice of "Jeff"? No. Does the world need to stop turning because a few fat girls got offended? Absolutely not. We need to stop this "politically correct" BS immediately. Sometime the truth hurts, but it will still, always set you free.

Don't really see how anyone can be offended by the truth. If someone wrote something that was not true then its fair enough to be offended.

What you say is true but in Retail,Hospitality, and Food Service industry that does not fly.

FAT OR NOT

That means lost revenue.

You think other "Fat People" are going to want to dine there... I think not...

What Jeff did was alienate the customer base. (I mean why make fun of the customers that pay your check)

Which is really dumb the way the economy is where there are so many other choices those women can go to.

So what happens next--

Those three women tell their friends and they tell their friends plus go on TV.

The restaurant that used to do 200 covers a night now only does 50 and guess what Jeff is out of a Job.

I mean there is a point at which one should use common sense and NOT alienate the customer base when they can go elsewhere.

When I worked in the food service industry-- I was taught that customer is 2$ towards my pay and a 5$ tip.

And if you treat them well-- they tell their friends and family and more customers come in.

What I found interesting in the video, is when the one girl told the other girls their receipt said "Fat girls" they laughed because they thought it was funny that the fat girl holding the receipt called the group "Fat girls". But once they found out someone else really did call them "Fat Girls", now the **** just got real!"

That being said, I think it's wrong to put "Fat girls" on their receipt.

Speaking of Their receipt , which they decided to make VERY public, I'm looking at what else it says. Coke and fries.....REALLY?.... and you wonder why people think you are fat!

Had the words Diet coke and salad been listed anywhere on the receipt, I would have respected them.

I'm with the fat chicks on this one.

While I'm all for Freedom of Speech, as a business owner I would have fired

the employee on the spot for making my business appear unprofessional, and

virtually guaranteeing no repeat business from those customers.

And you really don't want fatties to boycott your business if that business is a resturant!

I think some people are missing the point by arguing "Oh, dude just stated the obvious". It's not his job to provide physical desciptions of the customers. The hospitality industry is about servicing and building a rapport with customers so you can enjoy repeat business. You don't be rude, regardless of your personal opinion of the customer. Fat, short, tall, ugly, attractive, stupid, yokel, redneck, yuppie, ******, moron. All words you could use to describe customers, but never should. Obviously there are some people on this forum who should never be permitted to deal with customers.

Also, why do I get the feeling if someone called your mother, or sister, or girlfriend "fat" you wouldn't be so OK with it?

What is wrong with calling overweight round-as-barrel girls...fat girls? Instead of giving interviews or moping about it, they should go on a diet and exercise regularly. Morons.

Also, why do I get the feeling if someone called your mother, or sister, or girlfriend "fat" you wouldn't be so OK with it?

You stated exactly my point, but I do like that ending you used.

How would someone else feel if their flaws were pointed out.

Not to mention-- they should realize that each customer is a TIP.

Well, fat or not, they are "Americans". :p

I'm American, but I can't really argue with you on this one :)

So if it was a table of 3 big buff black dudes, you think handing them receipt that said, 3 n****rs would be OK? I think I get it now.

(Says like the Adam Sandler movies used to...) That's a huge b****! No offense, but maybe that guy was having a bad day? I mean, I've worked in busy restaurants before, and yes, it can be VERY stressful at times...and people can be pretty rude at times as well. I'm not trying to make excuses for "Jeff" or anything, but countless factors could be at play here...including the possibility that he was just doing it to be a plain jerk. Who is to say, you know?

Maybe I just like BBWs, I don't know. But seriously, that is actually the only sensible excuse I've read here. I would accept that, but I would also then tell him he should probably find another line of work.

It is hard for people who are overweight to lose weight, and it is hard for some people to not become overweight. We should keep that in mind: Controlling oneself is very hard, when one craves a lot of the unhealthy food. But having said that, I believe fat people should accept the reality and they shouldn't be offended if people describe them as fat. It isn't an insult; as others have pointed out, it's just like describing someone who has blonde hair or dark skin, isn't it?

I wouldn't go that far, but it is hard for women to control themselves, it would be very easy for them to lose weight, even if they ate unhealthy, they just need to be more active.

I would have taken the bill back, apologized, and brought back a new bill that said Obese Girls.

These women aren't just obese, they are morbidly obese.

I'm not with them at all, they're morbidly obese, it's a fact, should the waiter have put that on there, of course not

But don't be fooled, they will go back, they obviously have no self control or self respect.

My guess is they're doing this for the sweet sugar filled attention they crave.

[. . .]

It really isn't that easy, especially when the weight gets to a certain point.

Holy crap! Look I'm fat, I know it, these women are cows! They should not get ****ed at the restaurant, they should be mad at themselves, plus the only reason they are upset is because they didn't get their meals for free, I know I would be content with a 25% or 50% reduction, but I would not have complained, I already know I'm fat and it's obvious to anyone the sees me

Jeff was an idiot but he was just telling the truth.

However he was saying bye bye to them returning to eat there-- plus they tell their friends-- and went on TV....

That means loss of business...

You should be saying things to make the ladies want to come back and spend more money...

I mean picture this-- All the "fat people" stop going to that restaurant which is more than 1/2 of the business then Jeff is out of a job... yes real smart to tell the truth... Right???

They're obviously embarrassed about their weight so they don't need someone to rub it in their face by putting "Fat Girls" on a receipt. If someone was mentally retarded, would it be okay to put "retarded person" on a receipt? Yes, it would be stating a fact but it's not about telling the truth. It's about how the other person feels. Fortunately I'm not overweight but I know people that are. Little things like that can really hurt your feelings. The same can apply to someone who's severely underweight or paraplegic.

With that said, I think they took it a little too far by going to the media with their story. They should have been happy with the 50% discount. All they've done so far is shed unnecessary light on their story. It's obvious that being overweight is unhealthy and in most cases, it's the result of a poor lifestyle (e.g. eating unhealthy food and not exercising). If I was embarrassed about my weight, I'd do whatever it took to become healthy and improve my self-image. The women not only made themselves look bad but they brought negative attention to the restaurant too. It seems like they're throwing rocks out of a glass house.

Yes, it is.

You should write a book and make millions telling everyone how easy it is. Be sure to send those women a free copy and a thank you. LOL.

Those girls are NOT BBW's in my opinion.

My personal rule is to not make fun of people for things that they can't change. A mentally challenged person can't change that so don't make fun of them for being mentally challenged. This women are clearly healthy enough to waddle into a restaurant/casino which means they are still healthy enough to work off the weight. Make fun of them all you want because they are fat by choice. It is not like those kids you see on TV that are to the point of being so fat that medical help is the only solution. I have watched a coworker go from 415 to 250 over the course of 2 years. It wasn't an easy or short trip, but it's perfectly doable if you actually want to help yourself.

This restaurant should offer to pay for a years membership at a local gym or something to make up for what happened to them. Not only do the women get something free, but the restaurant is then helping them to never have that happen again. Problem solved.

    • Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.5.5 by Razvan Serea Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a utility for completely removing AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL graphics drivers and related packages from your system, attempting to eliminate all leftovers (including registry entries, folders and files, driver store). Though AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL drivers can usually be removed via the Windows Control Panel, this uninstaller tool was created for situations where standard uninstall fails, or when you need to fully remove NVIDIA or ATI graphics card drivers. After using this driver cleaner, your system will behave as though it’s the first time you’re installing a new driver—similar to a fresh Windows installation. As with all such tools, we recommend creating a restore point beforehand, allowing you to undo changes if issues arise. If you're having trouble installing an older or newer driver, try it—there are reports that it resolves such problems. Recommended usage: The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best. Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe). It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues. You do NOT need to uninstall the driver prior using DDU. Requirements: .NET Framework 4.8 Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit or 64-bit) Note: Using on Insider Preview builds is at your own risk.
