Windows 8 for both my office and home PC's.

Windows7 was fantastic but after using 8 for the past couple of months, 7 just seems so old fashioned when I use it on one of my laptops so I could never go back.

Windows 8 here, with Start8. I've gotten used to the faster boot-up from Windows 7, and actually, I like the ribbon in Explorer. It's nice to be able to quickly do things like turn filename extensions on and off and filter views, as well as having a button for New folder.

Why are people so obsessed with trying to put down other operating systems and people that use them.

OK well done if you think another operating system is crap but this thread really doesn't need to turn in to another troll fest.

Maybe just tell us why you use the one you do use. No need to real off a thousand reasons why you find another unrelated OS bad and if you want to do that, there are lots of threads already around.

because in the end if we don't speak out against the crap then Microsoft will simply assume that we want it. The fact is, I think a antitrust lawsuit should come out of this because Microsoft is using their domination on the desktop to push for an advantage in the mobile arena by using it as incentive for developers to make apps for metro.

Windows 8 & Start8 (the only way I'll use Windows 8)

yesterday I finally had the last of the start screen and apps. I uninstalled all the metro apps and installed windows classic shell for the start menu. I'm using the the old Win9x skin. It's clean and easy to use

But turn this thread in to another hate thread when there are already enough on Neowin?

That was my point, you can have whatever opinions you want about the actual OS.

Mountain Lion :)

And down the road, around July whatever comes after ML.

Secondary OS's: Windows 7, various Linux distros and I might set up a dedicated backup machine running either Solaris or FreeBSD.

    • This is exactly why I keep saying we are not ready for human free self-driving. These little "bugs" are may seem like random one-offs. There was also the Waymo that drove between police with drawn guns and the suspect they were pointing them at. From a software perspective it is easy to understand how those extremely rare situations may not have been programed for, but that is the point. If AI needs to be told to watch out for every possible contingency, then it can never be successful. There will always be the possibility of a first encounter that the AI needs to understand to avoid.

    • Recycle Bin has been broken for literal YEARS now. The setting to delete files older than 30 days from the bin which is on by default doesn't even work. I have files older than 4 months in it and they are just there still...
