Local man arrested after Facebook threat to 'shoot up' schools

SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. - Police have arrested a 19-year-old Skagit County man who threatened on Facebook to "shoot up every school within a 100-mile radius" if his gun rights were taken away after the Connecticut school massacre.

Authorities had been looking for the man, identified as Korry Martinson, 19, since Friday at about 7:20 p.m., after he allegedly posted the threat on his Facebook page, police said.

The threat was seen by several people, who reported it to the Sedro-Woolley police and the Skagit County Sheriff's Office.

Martinson's mother also was contacted by several callers. When she confronted her son about the posting, he got into an argument with her and took off before police arrived at his home.

Authorities had been looking for him ever since, and the FBI was monitoring the case, said Lt. Lin Tucker of the Sedro-Woolley Police Department.

Martinson finally turned himself in on Sunday afternoon, when a friend brought him to the Sedro-Woolley police station. He was placed under arrest and booked into the Skagit County Jail for investigation felony harassment.

A screenshot of the Facebook threat allegedly posted by Martinson said:

"Okay, so about that shooting of the little kids.

"I would personally like to thank the man who did this. You will (be) looked u pon as a hero in my eyes. You have rid the world of 20 future s------- and w-----.

Sounds like a well-adjusted individual. I definitely can't see any issue with people like that being allowed to own firearms.

It honestly stuns me that people like this actually exist.

No wonder my brother in law is always saying we need to shoot the people like this, among others, all the time. That's his cure all for anything, shoot it!!

Seen something similar quite often, nearly always see a comment like "Let them try" when someone mentions laws regarding banning firearms and confiscating weapons etc. Why such a strong attachment to the Constitution? Didn't it also declare that a slave was only 60% of a Human being?

Well that's my stereotype confirmed for the day :)

I assume felony harassment counts as a felony charge which would make it illegal for him to own guns.

If its true with the charge, his guns rights will be taken away, which means he will do as he said anyways? The logic of some gun freaks amaze me.

Felony charges and the right to vote vary by state. Some states will return the right if the felon is pardoned. Some return the right when their sentence has been completed. And some do not suspend the right to vote.

If its true with the charge, his guns rights will be taken away, which means he will do as he said anyways? The logic of some gun freaks amaze me.

People will obtain what they want whether it's illegal or not. Just look at drug and marijuana users.

Korry Martinson, 19

Doesn't this doughball realise it wasn't that long ago he was just a kid, and in my eyes he still is.

And yet his mother/relatives could and this would happen all over again...

    • This looks awesome, I will request access via Steam later this afternoon!
    • Personally, I’ve found that it’s usually worth investing in the infrastructure you don’t want to replace later, especially cabling. Running Cat6A (or better, depending on your needs) during an upgrade is relatively inexpensive compared to having to re-cable a few years down the road. For switches I try to balance current specs with realistic growth. If my budget allows it Ill choose switches with higher uplink speeds which leaves room for expanding later on, but I don’t necessarily overspend on access ports if the endpoints won’t benefit from them anytime soon. One lesson I’ve learned is that planning for scalability pays off. It’s much easier to add devices, VLANs, or higher-bandwidth workloads when your network infrastructure already supports it than to replace hardware later.  What is your budget like?
    • I hate the term, "future-proof." We saw it back in the 90's / 2000's, if not before. You cannot future-proof anything, since there is no definition of how far into the future you plan on prepping for. Best idea is to tell us what you currently have and what its use is at the moment, and we can then offer ideas about some areas that might need an upgrade and other areas that can be left alone.
    • I can agree that it is being used in a small capacity. I worked for a company where their engineers still used XP, and when asked why it was because their sensor software wasn't compatible with newer operating systems and the software was discontinued so they couldn't upgrade the software. Given that the sensors were still in use by companies, they had to continue using XP to support the sensor, otherwise the price to the company would have gone into the millions or billions. Our response was simple: Ok, you can keep the XP machine. But we're removing it from the network. "But then it can't access the Internet or folder shares!" Yup, kinda the point. If someone wants to continue using an unsecure OS they can do, I have no problem with that. But it should be isolated. Simple. I had a fight with a guy in the engineering department for weeks before he finally relented. But we digress.   What do I plan on doing to commemorate the anniversary? Nothing. I have fond memories of the OS, but at the end of the day it's just an OS. If I had some time I might see if I could install it on my Raspberry Pi for a laugh. But my reflex memory with today's OS ideas would probably get me frustrated and I'd uninstall it after 5 mins.
