Easy to Use Android Launcher?

Recommended Posts

Perfect! We have found a winning launcher. Problem solved. Sucks about the lack of being able to update it but oh well. I guess I wanted to play with google now on her phone for my own selfish reasons really :D

The Star N800 Mini has a MTK6575 CPU which is a Cortex A9 meaning it's ARMv7, so try downloading that version and giving it a try.

MIUI still looks like Apple tho? I tried MIUI on my Vibrant and was to Apple like. But that was a while ago.

I gather that's a good thing in this situation. I tend to agree with you, but it's still nice for some people though.

<div>Most knock offs have "vanilla specifications" eg. they adhere to a certain spec from a certain phone, I highly doubt it was the S2 though. What i'm saying is, most ROMS work with almost any device albeit "unsopported" Eg. if the dev didn't have any test input from X device, then don't expect him/her to have a specific answer.</div>

<div>All in all, from my little android experience, it's pretty hard to brick a phone with an open bootloader.</div>

holy html, batman! :p Another vote for holo launcher here!

Launcher 7 ( http://goo.gl/I0DZL ) is pretty cool if it's easy you want. On the up/downside, it does make your android phone to look like a windows phone.

+/-

1) + it's easy

2) + it's fast and not a memory hog

3) + it's stable

4) +/- windows phone lookalike --> if you're into widgets, it's not for you. But live tiles work nicely.

Please be careful what you suggest. This is all very wrong. Most knock offs don't have any relation to any specific phone. They are typically made by very very cheap components, and rarely have support of many custom ROMs, if for no other reason than a lack of interest from developers.

And ROMs certainly do NOT work on just any device. ROMs are custom built for a specific device, and flashing them on a difference device is a good way to do your best at bricking your phone, though that usually is pretty hard because you can usually get in and reflash the right software again.

I've seen chinese knock offs flashed with CM, But I do agree, it's something really time-consuming.

Well, I joined and posted a question. Their stringent rules for new users are quite annoying. I couldn't even link directly to the product page of the phone!

Also, whats with all the html?

Also, OMG they droped the price of the phone by ?20!!!! Annoying.

I've not idea I stopped caring... server hiccups I suppose... I dunno :p

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a way to back up my device!

I managed to root it but I can't install clockworkmod or TWRP, therefor I can't even install the Google Now mod either :s

Also, what on earth is a deodexed ROM?

Also, if I need a special deodexed ROM (Whatever that is), I surely can't use this mod either way because I can't find any ROMs specific to it to begin with :/

Oh... yeah, you're probably right. I forgot it had to be flashed in recovery. Been a while since I'd messed with it.

    • Hello, Christian Maas' XVI32 is a nice (and very small) hex editor. Speaking of hex editors, many years ago a colleague and I who both worked at Tribal Voice managed to edit a copy of the company's PowWow instant messaging client to make it behave better now that all of its lookup servers and other server-side tech was gone.  The program didn't support NAT (RFC-3022 was introduced in January 2001, the same time Tribal Voice was shuttered), but it still worked okay if you manually set up port-forwarding on your router.  The server at http://powwow.jazy.net/ hosts a copy (usual warnings about downloading and running untrusted code from random internet servers apply). I occasionally use some tools like Funduc Software's Search and Replace and Application Mover when I need to make mass-edits to text-based files or move programs with a hard-coded installation directories, respectively.  When I need to figure out the exact LCD panel inside of a laptop, EnTech Taiwan's Monitor Asset Manager is my go-to tool for that purpose. JD Design's website (now hosted on github.io) has a number of interesting freeware and shareware utilities.  I used to use their TouchPro utility to set the file timestamps on software I was mastering to match its version number (e.g., version 3.00 of a program had all of its files dates set to 3:00AM, and so forth). Karenware has a number of interesting freeware utilities, too. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • I still use HexChat! Not really as ancient as the 1994 AutoCAD above my post, but I have never found anything better to replace it. Yes we still operate an IRC server https://www.neowin.net/irc/ 😛
    • At work we still have a couple of people that use a version of AutoCAD LT purchased in 1994. This predates Windows 95 and works fine on versions of Windows up to XP. Its long since run in an locked down isolated XP VM, accessible via RDP. I did install LibreCAD for them, however they said it was just too different to get to grips with. In all fairness one of them is now 75 and the other is almost 60.
    • On my music making (non internet) PC Sony Acid Pro 7.0 Adobe Audition 2015 Korg Legacy Collection Windows 7 SP1
    • Anyway to download these versions without being on the Experimental builds?
