Show us your Workstations! - 2013 Edition

I haven't made dramatic changes from the structure of my desk since the last time I participated, but here is my latest desk.

What desk do you have? I am looking for a new desk, and I really like how large the keyboard tray is on yours.

The desk is a Sauder Executive.

What wrist rest is that in front of the keyboard?

It is a Grifiti Fat Wrist Pad.

I had also posted on Reddit and I got asked a fair bit of questions about the setup and I have answered lots of them. Including stuff like how my SSDs are doing in RAID 0 without TRIM. So you can check the comments there too :)

What chair is that and did it help your pain?

This chair, http://www.simply-ergonomic.co.uk/enjoy-office-chair-p-2.html really expensive but worth it. You do have to build it when it arrives, but the quality is amazing. My favorite part is the base and the back, really comfortable. The neck rest is an extra comfort as well. I have notice when I play computer games it's really easy to relax now and actually enjoy it. It is helping my pain but I am on physio treatment so going to take me a long time to get better but the chair helps :).

I haven't made dramatic changes from the structure of my desk since the last time I participated, but here is my latest desk. The biggest adjustment was to do all matching screens. So I have 3xDell U2410. I also switched from my old Logitech MX 5500 KB set to the DAS Pro and SteelSeries Sensi.

Overall, I'm happy with the state of my system at the moment.

Got my new screen last week. Still not entirely sure if I'm going to keep it but it looks awesome on my desk atm (middle one):

13+-+1

Then again this isn't much of a "Work" station anymore since I can't get xampp running on Windows 8 properly :p

Is that game Mechassault?

I know some people are gonna think I'm a jackass for saying this (and I know I can be), but I'll say it nonetheless.

Judging by the pictures posted in this thread (and the older ones with the same title, created previous years), it seems to me that the vast majority have understood that "show us your workstations" means your work area, your desk setup, your office (home or otherwise), that sort of thing.

So I've come to appreciate these threads, as it's giving me (and others, I'm sure) ideas for how to better organize myself and my work surroundings (I'm a software developer, working from home). At some point I'm gonna have myself a desk custom-made--seriously influenced by the best ideas obtained here--so keep 'em coming, I say. Ikea furniture, eat your heart out.

So it always makes me laugh when I invariably see this smaller subset of people posting pictures of the insides of their computer(s). I'm not speaking on anyone's behalf but my own, but I feel they've completely missed the point of this thread.

Just putting it out there. Not trolling. Well, not entirely at least. There's this thread, there's the "share your desktop wallpaper" threads, there's the Hardware Hangout section, which is probably more appropriate...may I suggest the "share your neon lights and clear plastic computer side-panel window" threads?

Ok, maybe that last part was gratuitous, but I think I've made my point. Yes, I know I can just keep scrolling--which I do. And no, nobody died and made me king of forums. Whatever.

What about the "show us your server" thread? Where it's people posting their workplace network.

show us YOUR server... simple fact is, people can't read so let them get on with it.

My part of the desk at work. I'll post my home one this weekend

Despite my (fairly poor) efforts to resize after uploading, the image remains MASSIVE and requires a lot of zooming out.

Thanks. I love it. I now work from home primarily thanks to a new job and I added a docking station for the work laptop. It is definitely a lot better to work at than it was to use the computers at work.

    • Because of the EU (a good thing) newer android devices been getting 5 years worth of security patches. Except some Motorola which found the loop hole, and offer ZERO updates. In addition, Google for years have been making where it can patch some stuff by updating the core Google Play Store itself.  As echoed earlier,  you take the security risk in to your own hand beyond supported.
