The out-of-this world settlement leaves Aldrin?s ex, Lois Driggs Cannon, with nearly half of the 82-year-old spaceman?s fortune.?? She?s set to pocket half of his $475,000 bank account and 50 percent of any profit he makes from his businesses.?? Cannon even gets to keep her 1988 Mercedes, which bears the ironic ?Moon Gal? plates.?? It would have been cheaper. That is one hell of a way to end your retirement cash.

CrashG
Seeing that pic, all I can think of is the quote from Tommy Boy: "Does this suit make me look fat? No, your face does". Luc2k 1 Share
Noir Angel
The way divorce courts almost royally ream the guy in this situation is sad, especially the way women seem to keep being given access to money these men earn in the future even though they did nothing to deserve it. If I ever get married I'm going to get a cast iron pre-nup. Reacon 1 Share

Titoist
If I'm not mistaken, Buzz initiated the divorce. Not her.

Marshall Veteran Posted January 9, 2013 Veteran Share Posted January 9, 2013 It doesn't look like she's going to have them time to enjoy it as she looks like she's about to croak. She looks like something out of House of Wax.

DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 9, 2013 Veteran Share Posted January 9, 2013 why get a divorce? just wait a couple years and one will be gone anyways. isnt like the're going to remarry at that age. im surprised he didnt have more money. I initially was as well, but then I thought about it. I doubt he made much being an astronaut at NASA in 1969, and even if he did, that was a hell of a long time ago. Have to figure the way he makes most of his money now is endorsements, etc., and being so old, I would imagine companies are not banging down his door. Sucks. You would hope he would be set financially, but obviously not the case. After typing it all out, I am now surprised he makes as much as he does. DocM
California is a Community Property state where 50-50 splits are the rule absent a pre-nuptial agreement to the contrary.
threetonesun
Sucks. You would hope he would be set financially, but obviously not the case. After typing it all out, I am now surprised he makes as much as he does. 82 years old and he gets $600,000 a year. I mean, giving talks alone could easily rack up some of that money... there's not a big pool of guys who landed on the moon. Or it could be money from NASA to keep him quiet about never actually landing on the moon /s. :alien:

Growled Member Posted January 10, 2013 Member Share Posted January 10, 2013 At his age he should have just lived with her. Been a hell of a lot cheaper.
