Thinking about getting my first smart phone. Android or iOS ...hmmm

think with CDMA its a band that a chip in the phone has to support which is why most phone manufacturers release phones differing in numbers like say lumia 822. iphone prolly has same problem except they dont release different version number for it or it carrries everything required. Personally i hate apple, not cus of their products but cus of there business practices, make someat sue the competition. thats all there game plan seems to me.

spose iphone is a good bit of hardware (crap in respects to the stuff in it on each revision cus i think they hold stuff back cus theyve got nothing else in the works) but it works lots of ppl like it, lots of apps. Android is a bag of mixed reviews, i like the sgs 3 but id prefer wp myself. Guess i just hate conforming to the norm hahaha. wp is good just starting to jog atm i think, wont be long before its sprinting. Upto you, personal preference

If you want a very original phone why not a XT890 RAZRi from motorola? they have a very nice x86 processor (up to 2GHz) that works wonders.

Right. Even the iPhone has different model numbers for each different model. They just don't use that model number to identify their phones. They just say it's the Verizon iPhone 32 GB or whatever.

On my iPhone 5, I leave Bluetooth, 3G, Wi-Fi, Push and Location Services switched on all the time, as well as an app that utilises background location services

And i though that iOS users was so happy about security in iOS?

Doesn't seems like you are thinking about security when you leave all of that on all the time.

I thought Samsung had squashed that silly Exynos bug. I guess it's still around, just as annoying as ever.

Anyway, let me worry about my own security. That should free you up some time to post on-topic in the future.

    • VidCoder 12.20 by Razvan Serea VidCoder is a DVD/Blu-ray ripping and video transcoding application for Windows. It uses HandBrake as its encoding engine. Calling directly into the HandBrake library gives it a more rich UI than the official HandBrake Windows GUI. VidCoder can rip DVDs but does not defeat the CSS encryption found in most commercial DVDs. You’ll need the NET 8 Desktop Runtime. If you don’t have it, VidCoder will prompt you to download and install it. The Portable version is self-contained and does not require any .NET Runtime to be installed. You do not need to install HandBrake for VidCoder to work. Feature list: Multi-threaded MP4, MKV containers Completely integrated encoding pipeline: everything is in one process and no huge intermediate temporary files H.264, H.265, MPEG-4, MPEG-2, VP8, Theora video Hardware-accelerated encoding with AMD VCE, Nvidia NVENC and Intel QuickSync AAC, MP3, Vorbis, AC3, FLAC audio encoding and AAC/AC3/MP3/DTS/DTS-HD passthrough Target bitrate, size or quality for video 2-pass encoding Decomb, detelecine, deinterlace, rotate, reflect, chroma smooth, colorspace filters Powerful batch encoding with simultaneous encodes Customizable Pickers to automatically pick audio and subtitle tracks, destination, titles and more Instant source previews Creates small encoded preview clips Pause, resume encoding VidCoder 12.20 changes: Updated HandBrake core to 1.11.2. • Too soon, I'm still not over this death!
    • Normally, I admit when a title is clickbait (unfortunately, it's become somewhat necessary to compete against AI-dominated news sections today), but in this case, all supported versions is implied and doesn't need to be spelled out in the title. Of course, I'm covering a Patch Tuesday update bug that is only available to supported Windows SKUs. All our coverage relates to supported Windows software and SKUs only unless we expressly state that it's "unsupported", "unofficial", or "third-party". I'm sorry, but supported/official SKUs don't need to be spelled out as such in every Neowin headline.
    • ALL versions or ALL SUPPORTED versions? Neowin does it again.
