Well, even if this is a ridiculously old thread, I just switched to electric myself. I've always used disposables or cartridge type razors before, but I find that if I'm clean shaven, I look very young. But I can't grow a full beard because of my Indian blood, so I like just a little stubble instead.

I've used all sorts of razors, power ones, normal ones, ones with one, two, three, four and five blades, etc.

The best ones I've found are actually from Asda, and they're really cheap compared to some of the main players.

Each razor lasts me about 2 months and they're quite a close shave too.

I shaved for the first time in years over the summer. My commitment to maintain a clean-shaven face was pretty clear when I just bought a 10 pack of disposable razors. I'm now back to having my manly beard, although I should probably invest in some trimmers soon. Much quicker and more even than using scissors.

mach 3. shave every single day as my skin gets irritated easily by hair. looks like random hairs grow on an angle, and poke my skin. gets a little expensive :/

Ingrown hairs can be cause by multi-blade razors. I think it is called hysteresis. The first blade pulls and extends the hairs while the subsequent blades cut it. It gives a close shave but the remainder of the hair follicle is under the skin and as it grows can become ingrown.

I use BIC 1. No hair tangling within blades as is the case with all, I mean all multi-blade shavers, 1 pass means 1 blade pass over the face, unlike with multi-blade solutions and thus more forgiving to the skin, especially to sensitive types. It s very light so it is easier to handle than regular safety blade since it is 95% plastic, it is more ergonomic than safety blades.....and it is the cheapest shaving solution available, and yet it provides the best experience for me.

Hello,

Im actually looking for a electric shaver. I like one that can give you a 99% smooth (I dont like it completely clean cut smooth skin) but also has the option to leave a small amount of beard. Im using two (old) electric shavers for these purposes for now.

I know about ingrown hairs, but my problem isn't ingrown hairs. its actually when the hair gets long,it pokes the surface of my skin. I believe the angle of some of the hairs makes them get pushed down by hairs growing in the other direction, thus making them point downwards, well that's my theory anyways haha. the only solution is to keep it nice and short.

I usually use a double edge blade.

I also have a Phillips electric, 2x Gillette Pro Fusion and 1x Hydro 5.  I don't shave too often as I get bad burn whatever I use.  I have to leave at least 1 week between shaves otherwise my throat is cut to pieces.  The Hydro 5 is a very good shave and doesn't give me as much burn as the rest, but the blades are a bit pricey.

You might want to look into some pre/post shaving creams and balms. A good, proper lather and a balm work quite well to deal with razor burn.

I pretty much shave my head at least every other day and on a good week I shave it every day.
I keep a beard so when I shave my face it is to clean the edge of it up, as I grow facial hair very quickly and very high on my cheek, so if I just let it grow out, would have a Duck Dynasty beard, so have to keep it edged up.

I have always wanted to go old school classic straight edge, but am just super hesitant to do so on my head.
So because of that, what I have finally landed on, and I have tried so many different combinations over the years as I have been shaving my head for over 10 years, now I just use Dollar Shave Club's Premium plan, which are very similar to Fusion blades. Only thing is they are much less in cost. They are also not as good as Fusion blades, but it does not matter, as the whole point of the DSC is a new blade every week at an affordable price, which winds up working perfectly for me shaving my head.

I often try different foams, etc, and my favorite is probably shaving butter. But it is super expensive.

Finally, a good fog-less mirror has wound up being an essential for the shower, and I actually got a new one for Christmas, and it is the best one I have ever had. you actually fill it with your hot shower water, and it does not fog whatsoever. Is a nice bigger size as well. If you shave in the shower, this is no doubt the best mirror I can recommend, and I have had about 5 over the past 4 years or so.

I use everything in the poll. My go-to method is the manual - cartridge.

Electric Shave - when I'm too lazy to manual shave or want a trim

Manual - Cartridge - my usual method

Manual - Double Edge/Cut Throat - when I'm feeling gutsy/have extra time

Manual - Disposable - used when I travel

    • I think you meant the "ntfs3" driver, but yes there have been a lot of fixes for it in this release and previous releases, not 100% sure if the issue you mentioned is fixed though. In any case, the new "ntfs" driver in 7.1 doesn't have that issue (at least, no reports of such have come thru), but your kernel needs to explicitly enable support for the new driver first (like how CachyOS kernel has it), and you need to edit your mount points in /etc/fstab to use "ntfs" instead of the other drivers.
    • Epic Games says Unreal Engine 6 will help developers "build content faster" using AI models by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Epic Games is rolling out the latest major update to Unreal Engine 5 today, and at the same time, the company also dropped some information on the next-generation version of the product, Unreal Engine 6. This was already revealed a few weeks ago alongside the new Rocket League upgrade reveal. The company says it is combining the features of Unreal Engine and Unreal Editor for Fortnite to create this new version of its popular media creation tool. On top of creating entire games, the new engine will also focus on letting developers operate large-scale live service titles more easily, whether by shipping content into their own ecosystems or into Fortnite. The use of large language models is also mentioned here, with Epic saying it will be a core part of the engine. "We see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need," adds the company. Here is the rundown of what's new about version 6 of Unreal Engine: With all these changes to the programming model, portability upgrades, and generative AI integration, Epic says the new version of the engine will "change a lot about how games are made." The company aims to ship Unreal Engine 6 into early access in late 2027, with a full release planned for 12-18 months later. Epic Games also dropped a lengthy blog post about the new Unreal Engine 5.8 update for game developers over here. The release is focused on delivering better performance, customization, and streamlined workflows for development teams. This will be the final major update for this version of the engine before Epic switches to focus fully on Unreal Engine 6's early access launch.
    • Watch Louis Rossmann's recent experience on YouTube about trying to get a warranty replacement from Samsung. It's crazy.
    • That is the thing, how many of these people don't realise they are using AI? If they use Google Search they have no choice but to use AI. So yes, maybe half of American adults do use and I expect a lot of Uk adults do to, but I bet most of them don't realise it. Myself, i avoid the rubbish.
    • They use FREE AI. They aren't paying for this meme-generating slopware...
