An unidentified buyer who is totally not compensating for anything has purchased a gigantic cigar for $185,000.

The Gran Habano #5 El Gigante -- The Giant -- measures an astounding 19 feet long by 3 feet wide, according to FCN. The super-stogie is wrapped in 16,000 wrapper leaves and weighs approximately 1,600 pounds. That's the equivalent of 25,000 regular smokes.

Juan Panesso, who operates CigarsDirect.com in Westchase, Fla., says he thought the inquiry into purchasing the cigar was a fake.

Patch reports:

Panesso says the cigar was created as a display piece for trade shows, and he wasn?t even sure it was for sale. As he inquired about the giant cigar, everyone he spoke to was skeptical.

?Everybody along the way was like, ?What? This is fraudulent, this is crazy,?? he said.

The cigar sold for $15,000 below the recommended price to a private collector who lives outside the United States, the Tampa Tribune reports.

The cigar -- which is just a cigar -- comes with its own 900-pound wooden carrying case.

Talk about a waste of money. I wish I had finances to blow on useless crap like this.

how woudl you store this? do cigars have a life expectancy before they go bad?

Yes, they do. You also need to keep them in a humidor too or else they go bad much quicker.

    • Closed-loop cooling and a custom 800G network protocol let the $7.3B campus run as one AI training machine. Microsoft confirmed June 23, 2026, that its Fairwater campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, is fully operational — and the engineering behind it makes the facility something fundamentally different from every data center that came before it. Where conventional cloud infrastructure racks up general-purpose servers and parcels out workloads to each one independently, Fairwater links hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 Blackwell GPUs into a single, coherent cluster using a two-story building design, 800-gigabit-per-second Ethernet fabric, and a proprietary networking protocol co-developed with OpenAI and NVIDIA. The result, according to Microsoft, is the closest thing to a purpose-built AI supercomputer that any company has ever placed in commercial operation. https://www.techtimes.com/articles/319205/20260627/microsoft-opens-fairwater-wisconsin-ai-campus-runs-one-supercomputer-via-800g-ethernet.htm
