Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

My only problem was

the lack of backstory for the major players in the movie. It would have been nice to get a little detail on The Nova Corps, The Kree, Ronan the Accuser, Thanos, etc.

My only problem was [snipped because sometimes quotes and spoilers have issues]

Don't get me wrong I loved it however, i have a huge problem with

the fact that Peters entire back story is wrong. At least they kind of mention his father a few times but how his mom dies and all that is stupid. Being an orphan was a huge part of his back story

I saw the movie over the weekend, and I really enjoyed it. I would have preferred less cheesy "I'm glad you're my friend" moments between the guardians, but that's it. Really well done.

I think Rocket was the best character. So many hilarious lines.

But Peter WAS an orphan in the movie. The big pieces of his character's backstory are still there. His mother died. He doesn't know who his father is, but he is alluded to be rather important. So what else did you want?

Originally he was supposed be orphaned for a while and then join NASA and all that stuff. and then be chosen to be sent out into space. rather than just being abducted by Yondu (who was one of the original Guardians) It just feels like they left out a lot of how he got there. but it was still a VERY good movie.

Ah, well I can understand your criticisms then. Though I still like the movie version. It made Quill seem more like a "space orphan" rather than an "Earth orphan"...if that makes any sense. And it got us right into the "galaxy" part of the story instead of spending a lot of time on a complicated back-story on Earth.

I don't see it but yeah, that comic she has even been part of Guardians of the Galaxy in the comic books now that Marvel owns the character. In the Marvel Universe, she's the long lost sister of Thor and Loki.

That's not Red Sonja- that is Angela, the Angel.  She used to be in Spawn over at Image Comics, but her creator went to Marvel, and brought her along.

No one with a clue ever thought it would make $100m.

I'm sure that's the case, the only thing to look at now is how front loaded this is or if it can keep going for long.

Yep, you are right! I was confused with both characters now that I read it back. I'm not caught up yet with the GotG books either so that's another reason. Thanks for correcting me though! :)

You would have to read the current "Thor" comics for more info about Angela.Seems there is now a 10th realm that was sealed off from the 9 Realms- the Angels' Realm.  Angela was "stolen" as an infant from Odin and Frigga by the Queen of the Angels during a fight, or something like that.

Yup, read that in the synopsis for the Original Sin issue about that ordeal. Pretty interesting tbh! I'll be starting my Thor run once the new Thor is in it because I think that if I start now, I'll be lost :p

So, finally saw it yesterday. Had a blast! Absolutely terrific movie, let alone comic book based movie. The cast was SPOT on. I saw some people didn't think Bradley Cooper fit as Rocket, but I think he did a great job. Overall, best one yet imo! Also the special effects were beyond stunning. I mean, wow.

I'm still just shocked they plainly had a Thanos scene in there, just hey here he is guys! The bigg(est) bad we got (currently)! Enjoy! And he had more than one line! He also looked alot better than in the end credits scene of the Avengers, obviously. And, Howard the Duck rules!

Is this Beta Ray Bill?

There are a ton of easter eggs in Guardians of the Galaxy.  James Gunn even said at one point that the film would feature the most Marvel Universe characters of any Marvel Studio film to this point.  One of those characters that been debated on since the film came out, is if we see Beta Ray Bill in one of the glass cases in the Collector?s Museum....

    • Free Software Foundation Europe pushes EU to force Google to allow AI uninstalls on Android by Paul Hill Credit: Pexels Users should be able to fully uninstall AI-based features from Android devices and be able to access interoperability functions, free from Google’s verification requirements, the European Commission has heard as part of an Android interoperability consultation under the Digital Markets Act. These measures were proposed by the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) last week when it submitted its documentation. The FSFE noted that Google had started silently installing AI models without telling users. It noted that the EU’s DMA requires companies like Google to allow users to uninstall pre-loaded software from their devices, but in the case of the AI models Google is installing, they reinstall if you delete them, contravening the DMA. To get Google back under control, the FSFE has told the European Commission that there needs to be improvements within the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). First, it said that users should be able to fully remove pre-loaded AI components from their devices, with companies being prohibited from silently reinstalling or reactivating them. Second, access to Android interoperability features should not be contingent on registration, authorization, or contractual relationships with Google. This pertains to Google’s attempt to force developers to register with Google, even to publish apps to alternative app stores like F-Droid. Discussing its submission, Lucas Lasota, FSFE Legal Programme Manager, said: Google is planning to roll out its Android Developer Certification in September 2026. This will force every Android app developer to register with Google before their software can be installed on certified Android devices, but it should affect those who have removed Google Apps from their device. The program is controversial because it entails the signing of contracts and payment of account fees to Google, as well as the handing over of the identities of developers. It said: The FSFE said that if the Commission’s draft measures remain unchanged, then Google will be allowed to make developers verify their identity. The FSFE believes that asking developers to register is contrary to the text and spirit of the law. In summary, the FSFE has told the Commission that no developer should need a Google account, a Play Store presence, or any agreement with Google to access Android’s interoperability features.
