Mine won't even update, just stalls at 0.00kb suppose the update servers are getting hammered

Yeah, the same thing happened to me. I thought it was my Internet connection at first.

Mine worked earlier. Did you try clicking the small "auto update" button after clicking "update" as mine didn't do anything until i did that. Just updated the internet security just now, downloaded a 3.75mb update.

Mine updated and scanned during the install

EDIT - Yea stuck now

EDIT -

New update server address working

Can we use the license again when we reformat?

As Anaron suggested, be sure to register for the account. In your account, there's a way to remove the device you have tied to your BitDefender account, so I'm pretty sure you can install this again just fine and re-tie the device back to your account, if it doesn't recognize it after the format.

Hope that helps.

MODERATORS:

there's lots of posts in this thread that need deleting as people are getting confused about links and serials: https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1135092-free-354-day-bitdefender-internet-security-2013/page__st__15

Also please can you change the title from saying 1yr to 677days and "2yrs" to "677days" in the original post of this topic too.

Edit: Neither of them connect :(

They both work here, strange, possibly they are all getting hammered

EDIT - My machine is taking 10 x longer to complete booting up running this, I hope its just the initial scanning of everything, I've been booted for 5 minutes now and things like Auslogics Disk defrag are only just loading into system tray

Will keep using AVG free anti-virus. :D

AVG provide another program that offers the same level of protection that AVG offers, but uses even less resources. It's called Uninstall AVG.

The 677 day code still seems to have worked for me for the 2013 version, site confirms it's for 2013 plus with definitions (Build number 16.26.0.1739). Not sure why someone else ended up with the 2012 version. Thanks for the heads up!

Hahahaha, nice. :p

Just had a friend install this on a machine she originally has MSE on, as well as the free Malware-Bytes application just to hunt down some bit of malware that's been plaguing her system. They never found anything, and we're both too busy to meet up and get it fixed.

BitDefender came up with 52 threats... I really hope this fixes her system, and will be dropping what I've been using when I get home for this on my desktop.

It surprises me that Malwarebytes would miss such an infected machine

My guess is that the malware was rendering MB inactive, I've seen viruses cause machines to refuse to install / update MB many times

Doubt it, as I helped her with it, and I've seen viruses that block installs as you mention. I utilize Malware-Bytes PRO and MSE at home myself, so I'm rather disappointed/surprised myself honestly.

Not sure what she has, but I'll have her find out and see if it doesn't resolve the issue.

I've found Avast Free Boot Time Scan to do wonders too, scanning without windows / malware running

Kaspersky has a rescue boot disk too

Others like SpyBot, Hijack This, Hitman Pro

    • They are neither of those things They cause virtually zero issues to end users as when leveraged correctly they are invisible. They aren't 'DRM', because, they're nothing to do with DigitalRightsManagement Some Anti-Cheat services I did see are starting to *use* the TPM to store creds/tokens, which it's for, but it's not involved beyond that. I would suggest doing some reading, both articles are fairly lengthy, but for MS Learn they're actually pretty decent at explaining the concepts.
