It surprises me that Malwarebytes would miss such an infected machine

My guess is that the malware was rendering MB inactive, I've seen viruses cause machines to refuse to install / update MB many times

Change the MBAM file type from .exe to .cmd and it'll install with the malware running in most cases :)

677 Day key is dead

Other 365 day keys brought it back to life

lrENZKU.jpg

Mine is still working! Don't know for how long but, so far so good.

EDIT: Spoke too soon, the dashboard shows the 676 key as invalid. The program still says as you can see 676 days left and when I click on it, it still says it's a valid key.

lol, I think the 677 day key is actually for BitDefender 2012,

The 365 day keys are for the 2013 version and still work fine

It still works for me.

And this is what it shows in MyBitdefender:

Mine, too.. but under your username/email at the top of the page, use the drop down and click on "products" and that page on mine it says the key is invalid. Mine also states it's for 2013 in that box, but the product page lists it for 2012.

I'd expect a message soon then, what if you click on the 676 days left on the bottom of the AV ?

You're right. This is my list now:

EDIT: I edited the original post.

Yep, I just checked and it says that for me too on MyBitDefender! The program's still saying it's valid with 676 days to go, but I've redeemed JZHT7W0 on the MyBitDefender site, and it's given me 365 days of the 2013 version now, so still better than nothing. :)

Oh yeah, 365 free days is still a great deal, I hope torrentthief wasn't thinking I was bashing his generosity!! I replace MSE with this on two of three machines so far and it works great.

yeah, 1 free year is still better than a kick in the teeth :) I'm using the internet security version as i wanted the firewall too.

What's the firewall like? Is it a pain in the butt to use while gaming? As I mentioned earlier, I installed Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2013 on my younger brother's laptop. Since the 677-day key is invalid, it would make sense to use Bitdefender Internet Security 2013 instead. I'm asking because I currently use ESET Smart Security 6 and I had a couple of issues with some games. I don't want my brother to come across any issues with League of Legends.

I found bitdefender to be too aggressive, it seemed to stop PatchMyPC from connecting to the Internet, and excluding the process didn't remedy the problem. Back to Avast. It also removed, without my permission 2 game trainers that were falsely flagged as viruses.

    • Never had a problem with TPM and started using that many years ago in Win10. Through several motherboards and OS versions, it just does what it does without complaint. My games library doesn't even know it's there. Secure boot does a lot more than support anti-cheat, as it came along long before anti-cheat software. I've used it religiously since before I started using TPM, and I always liked it for being able to nullify virus contagions that try their best to come in underneath the firmware during boot, so that the OS doesn't see them, etc. That is its purpose, imo. I'll never understand why people who elect to use another OS feel compelled to run down Windows... I guess they need to do that to feel secure about their choices? I run Windows because it supports all the software (including games) natively that I want to buy, and I've never had to run down another OS to make me feel better about it. (Although it's certainly possible to do that, of course...) Win10 is on a ventilator atm, and Win11 is very close to being free, and I finally got to stop running StartAllBack as I moved to the Experimental/Dev channel and my 26300.8553 build supports the moveable taskbar and it's running fine at the top of the screen! Finally, my last major dislike of Win11 is being rectified! So, I'm not at all surprised to see Win11's share of the Steam survey hitting 70%.
    • I can answer about the Linux bit. I only used AMD GPUs. I currently have a 9060XT (8GB) that fits my needs, I'm not a gamer, so I don't need that much GDDR. But lately, NVIDIA has grown a lot in the recent years. Oh, the horrors of NVIDIA drivers not working. But they have been getting better. I know a lot of members onm here that are running cachyOS and other distros, and are fine with a 4090/5090 variants. Really, though, I would stick with AMD variants.
    • Everything they say you can already do yourself on the registry by changing some things.
    • Artist's renderings are so much nicer to view than the real thing, don't you think?
