Straw man, he never said 100% of the state was Mormon But it is the single largest Mormon Enclave with over 60% being Mormon and with clustering counted their are whole parts of the state where 90% of the town is Mormon.

And I never said they were NOT racist. Do not call me names.

And I never said they were NOT racist. Do not call me names.

In my ten years on Neowin, I have never seen a response that was only two sentences and stringed to straw mans into itself as well. I neither told you that you said they where not racist, nor called you a name.

Then take a look at the post directly above yours. You called me straw man. I guess that term is used more so in England.

Huh? Most of the racial hatred organizations distort religion and use it as one of their main reasons to be racist.

Usually don't have to distort it too much.

I love blanket statements like these.

Bigotry and athiesm are two sides of the same coin.

Athiests are biggoted against religion.

If atheism had a racist dogma to follow, you might be right.

He wasn't "calling" you a straw man, he was pointing out the fallacy of attacking a position the other poster, DirthLarry, never made.

I never would have though Mississippi would be number 1. With all of the racial hatred that went on there.

Mississippi also has the highest black population in the country, 37.3% of the population, and black people tend to be on average more religiously observant than white people. The South in general has a larger black population than the rest of the country, too. Not sure why everyone always thinks of white rednecks when they think of the South. There are lots of black "rednecks" there.

Nowadays, black people are being elected by majority white districts in MI over white candidates, so I don't see the racial problems being there anymore.

Dirty Larry told me to educate myself on something I never said. This is what I said.

Using this logic Utah has to be a very racist state as well as they came in 2nd.

I did not mention Mormons, that is all I am saying. I lived in Arizona for 5 years and there are plenty of Mormons there as well. But I understand now what is meant by Straw Man. It is a term widely used in The UK.

all the top positions are the ones most prevalent in slavery trade :)

Abolitionists were very religious people and used they saw their fight to end slavery as a religious fight, so that's not relevant in the end.

The reason Southern states are more religious today is : 1. They're largely agricultural, country folk are more religious . 2. They have a high black population, black people are more religious than whites. So its isn't like its a coincidence that these were slave-owning states. Because the states that owned slaves were 1. agricultural, 2. had a high black population. But the actual slave-ownership had no connection to religion.

Heh. Nevada the least religious???? I would think everyone would be praying for that lucky 7 or royal flush. ;)

Nope. You read it wrong. Vermont is the least religious. Amazing that you failed here, that was the 2nd sentence in the OP.

Here, I'll make it easy for you:

Vermont: 19 percent are very religious

New Hampshire: 23 percent

Maine: 24 percent

Massachusetts: 27 percent

Oregon: 29 percent

Rhode Island: 29 percent

District of Columbia: 30 percent

Washington (tie): 31 percent

Connecticut (tie): 31 percent

Alaska (tie): 31 percent

Hawaii (tie): 31 percent

Nevada (tie): 31 percent

But I understand now what is meant by Straw Man. It is a term widely used in The UK.

I think you read that Wikipedia article wrong. In the UK, it's called an Aunt Sally. In the US, we call it a straw man.

I hope it feels so good to be right. There is nothing more exhilarating than pointing out the shortcomings of others, is there?

Yeah I did read it wrong because when I look at a list, the last item usually counts as the bottom. But, hey, way to stay on top of it!

    • It's about to become harder to turn off your Samsung TV, thanks to Instagram by Aditya Tiwari Meta announced that its Instagram for TV app has arrived on Samsung TVs in the US as part of its latest expansion, giving users one more way to scroll through Reels. The social media giant often comes under scrutiny for the "addictiveness" of its features, which leads people to spend excessive time on the platform. Interestingly, Instagram boss Adam Mosseri described spending 16 hours on the platform as "problematic use" but not "clinical addiction." Mosseri also compared scrolling on Instagram to binge-watching a show on Netflix. Instagram for TV is now available on Samsung TV models released in 2020 or later. The app is already available on Amazon Fire TV and Google TV in the US, which together account for the majority of connected TV devices. The company said it will test several new features to improve the living room and family experience while using Instagram on the big screen. Watching vertical videos on a big screen isn't something many would be excited about. Probably that's why Meta is testing a dedicated home for horizontal videos. Creators will get the opportunity to design content for TV screens and get more ways to reach audiences, according to Meta. If you found an interesting Reel while doomscrolling on your phone, you'll be able to cast it to your TV. The feature is available for testing on Instagram for TV on Google TV and Amazon Fire TV, and it will also support videos from the Saved tab. Instagram for TV will be testing Channels organized around user interests, across genres such as comedy and sports, as well as content from favorite creators. Moreover, you can watch Stories on your TV. While Instagram is known for short-form videos, it's knocking on more doors to keep the audience hooked. The company said it's exploring new content formats for the big screen, including long-form creator content to cover topics in detail, episodic series to build suspense across multiple episodes, and creator live sessions on TV. All of the new updates put Instagram in competition with established giants like YouTube (and Netflix), which already have a robust presence on the big screen. In recent updates, Instagram added the ability to write an individual caption for each carousel image, manually re-order posts, and a paid version of the app.
    • I know RAM and storage prices are high right now, but I think it would have been better to have 1TB as the base level storage, especially as it's supposed to be for gaming. Plus a 2.5gbe ethernet port rather than only 1gbe.
    • I have installed the debloated version of Windows 11 25H2 Pro. I obtained the apps from store.rg-adguard.net. The size of the Photos app window is quite problematic for me; it consistently displays in a 16:9 aspect ratio, resembling a movie theatre screen, and cant remeber its last size and position. The Snipping Tool cannot capture the taskbar. When I select "Window" in capture mode, it allows me to capture menus or individual windows, but I am unable to capture just the taskbar. This functionality was available in version 24! I am on the same version numbers (latesst).
    • I'm already seeing my steam library, still swallowing the 16 Gb of RAM, then looking at the SD storage expansion and saying "what?".
