HDMI 1.4 Supports 4k.

http://www.dpllabs.com/article/hdmi-rev-14-4k-x-2k-resolution-mission-impossible

It also appears to can get Blu Ray players that support 4k ( Upscale ).

Sony BDPS790

So yup, so I'm sure we will see some 4k support on the new console's.

Wonder what the port on the bottom of the sticks is for..

probably the same thing as the 3.5mm jack on the bottom of 360 controllers

this is one thing that i thought the 360 controller had right over the PS3 controller. it allowed for plugging in things such as a keyboard or headset directly without having to have the wireless versions and worrying about another battery

Positions of the analogs never bothered me though I do hope they have indeed tweaked the triggers a little bit. Already like that the analog sticks have a bit of a lip on this new one and I hope the d-pad has a similar feel to that on the Vita. Headphone jack on the bottom makes sense if that spot above it is for a microphone, opens up voice chat for a lot more people.

Though this is one of several controller designs Sony have tested, it doesn't even have the "share" button that has been floating about in the news.

Top left corner of the "squared" part, just above the right side of the D-Pad.

4K is way off from consoles... I don't see them supporting it

They can support 4K, doesn't mean games will use it natively, with Sony coming out with 4K TV's and a 4K streaming service I don't see why the PS4 wouldn't.

Here's a mockup of the controller that I found on Reddit:

Looks really nice.

That actually came from a guy on Neogaf who has been making controller renders as we were getting leaks.

360 controllers use a 2.5mm jack, if this is 3.5mm that would be great as it would be far more universal for using your own stuff.

There are two small buttons one next to the D-Pad on the right and one next to the normal face buttons to the left, people think it will just be Start and Select as usual just in different places so they aren't further under the touch interface and can't be accessed because of the sticks.

Wasn't there going to be a share button? Press it, it takes a screenshot and shares it on facebook/twitter? Or was that just a rumour?

I've read a lot of debates these past few days about the analogue stick placement, and I do believe at the end of the day Sony will simply cater to those buyers that have been PS1/PS2 owners. For the majority it really is simply a preference, not that the controller doesn't work.

Spending time to make the finer details of the dualshock more ergonomic will suit me (triggers, concave sticks, grip, ect). I do have to admit I'm simply used to the PS style controllers, and can use PS or Xbox without any real noticeable difference.

I've been going back and forth from the 360 controller and the dual shock a lot lately and honestly I can't notice a huge difference. I think the 360 controller is a bit more confortable: the weight and shape makes it feel a little more substantial in your hands. After 10 minutes playing, you kind of stop noticing.

They should bulk up the DS a bit, I use the EA Sports Comfort Pack on my DS3, mostly for the triggers but it has rubber handles for the DS3 to make it fatter to hold. I find this more comfortable now.

The triggers were the biggest crime though, I really do not know what Sony were thinking.

in the end, if you really want a controller with the left stick on top like the 360 controller then there are plenty of good 3rd party controllers that do that. even some that are truly wireless like the sony controller

It should be really hard to somehow not notice a huge difference since the position of the left stick on the 360 controller feels like far more of a natural position than the dual shock's ever has.

Nop.... on the contrary, All my life my left thumb has been able to reach the directional buttons, then the analog was introduced and particularly I feel it far more natural that way, and this even predates from the nintendo era.

Once I'm absorbed by the game, I really don't notice.

They won't change the placement of the analogue stick, it's been that way since the PS1.

Unfortunately that's probably true. The one time you may actually want sony to imitate the competition, they wont do it.

How come im the only man on earth to have no issues with them what so ever?

i find they're just fine as well, now if only they were pressure sensitive, so many possibilities

I really don't get the hate for the Sony controller. If anything, the XBox's controller is technically the foreign controller. Many people, myself included, had to get used to it, not the other way around. I personally do not see anything wrong whatsoever with the placement of the analog sticks on the Dual Shock, but then I also played a hell of a lot of games on my PS2.

The only thing IMHO they need to improve is the lack of triggers, and I have personally always used the $5 Real Triggers to make up for this fact. That is literally it. I find the D pad to be better on the dual shock, I feel the analog triggers themselves have a bit more stiffness which I prefer. I actually really enjoy it as a controller. I also really like the XBox controller as well. Someone already said it, within 5 minutes of playing a game I honestly am not even thinking about what controller I am using, they both feel equally natural.

like i said. plenty of 3rd party options, some even without need for a dongle like this one http://www.gioteck.com/products/playstation-3/controllers-ps3/gc-1/

If you mean work sort of like a throttle then they kinda do cause in Most wanted a light press keeps me under 35mph where as hard down is well full throttle.

    • You pay just $100 per TB with this rare 4TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD deal by Sayan Sen SSDs and GPUs are incredibly hard to get nowadays due to high pricing. Discounts are quite rare which is why we report on them as soon as we spot a good deal. For example AMD's new 9070 GRE was finally up for sale at a very good price of just $500 thanks to a special coupon. Sadly that deal is gone but if you happen to be looking for a 4TB NVMe SSD and can spend around $400 there is a really good offer on sale that you should not miss out on as TeamGroup's 4TB G50 model is on sale for that that price which means you are only paying $100 per TB, a very good deal in the current market (purchase link under the specs table down below). The TeamGroup T-FORCE G50 NVMe SSD is a PCIe Gen4 drive and as such it promises to deliver sequential read speeds of up to 5,000 MB/s, helping accelerate game loading, file transfers, and everyday computing tasks. Since this is a 4TB drive you can use it for a gaming library to take advantage of things like DirectStorage. The SSD features an InnoGrit controller and SLC caching technology to support consistent performance. An ultra-thin, patented graphene heatsink is included to aid in heat dissipation. Get it at the link below: Team Group T-FORCE G50 4TB Internal SSD (TM8FFE004T0C129): $449.99 + $50 off w/ promo code SSF69668, limited offer => $39.99 (Sold and Shipped by Newegg US) Good to know This Amazon deal is U.S. specific, and not available in other regions unless specified. • I agree. I also think Phil stayed too long. They should definitely fire whoever thought all a console platform needed was Call of Duty, Elder Scrolls, and Fallout to survive. Asha and crew are still saying they need more Elder Scrolls and Fallout games. They simply don't get it.
    • Macbook Air is an appealing option, as are plethora of Windows devices with various different CPU's
