I've fixed a few people's laptops with this in place. My first thought : "Paranoid much?" :p

usually bandaids.... or transparent tape and a piece of paper. and my first though is "So.... what exactly do you do in front of this computer...."

This has been around for years, I actually tried one of the tools, something 7 it was called, way back before XP. You were able to open the cd tray with that as well as capture their keystrokes and screen, I think you were also able to capture their webcam but back then the transfer speeds and technology wouldn't have allowed video.

Never accept any files unless you know the person who sent them or what they are and use good security software and you'll be fine.

That can be disabled.

Hehe. Fun days.

Put this on all the computers at the lab and the library at high school.... good times.... opened all the cd drives at once and one of the very religious teachers was scared and started to pray.

Yes, like a piece of black tape on the lens!!!

I am sure you are anxious to see those videos :woot:

You mean you're not?

Are you trying to spoil my fantasy that female net users aren't hot and like it when they're watched?

(man, I think it's time I started watching less porn) :p

Or buy an iPad.

Because iPads Never get hacked do they? and while I'm posting, how would a tablet replace a personal computer (regardless of the Operating System)

I'm not trying to pick a fight, I just simply fail to see how a tablet is better than a Full computer (mac or otherwise) overall.

It was called Sub7

It had tools to infect various different file types with the server so you could send it to people

There was also different versions that had fancy extras

It was easy to use and very good at what it did

We studied it as part of a class

As long as they can't use my webcam without the light coming on ......

I can't believe some of you people are joking about seeing the videos, that is disgusting. Would you find it so funny if it was your mother/sister/wife/gf/daughter?

Which is precisely there is very little on TV in the UK now, because all the sex and violence was scapegoated back in the late 80's onwards.

Whatever happened to parental responsibility. I know this is off topic, but seeing as you went first........

Am I against hacking and hackers? Yes. Am I in a position or have the education enough to do something about it? No.

(I think you'll find most here would probably make a joke instead of dismissing the fact (not that I'm saying you did)

For the last part of your post. There are people who do that sort of thing, and there are people who will pay to see that sort of thing, there is nothing I can do about it without breaking laws (simply calling it for what it is) is it wrong? YES I am against it. But you did also mention wives, I am not the only person in existence with an exhibishionist (if that's spelled correctly) wife, whether others admit it or not, I don't care, I'm a voyeur who loves to watch my wife perform for me. It's not like we're the only ones, or living in 1952.

So far as sisters and daughters goes, You would have to ask porn stars how their families cope.

Now I'm sorry if this came out like a rant and I apologise to anyone if this post offended.

Easy fix, use Linux...

Probably no drivers for the webcam to start with :p /s

OMG rofl. +1

Seriously?

Next time, engage brain before bashing keyboard.

I have to agree

what basis should i buy a desktop over the laptop if i dont use it for work ?

I dont carry my laptop about but i have it instead of a desktop as its more suited to me, i dont need to have a desk in the house for the desktop, it fits neatly into my drawer when i am not using it

Also laptops today are simply cheaper for anyone not buying a gamer PC or high power workstation. desktops haven't made economic sense the last few years.

    • On xiaomi hyperos there's also an option to disable google assistant. I've got everything disabled. Only thing I do have installed is a web wrapped for duck.ai which claims to let you use various AIs anonymously
    • I need to understand the rationale of not shipping all of these K2 improvements in a single update/release. It's giving "we will fix Windows 11 but no commitments". It seems to me that they just announce these improvements just to appease the community.
    • The term "RTM" is long gone starting with Windows 10. Every current release is a GA build. This is the result of MS making Windows as a Service (WaaS).
