compl3x
Deep Silver revealed Saints Row IV to the world this morning, showing off a trailer for the game and providing an August release date. In the press release, the company said the game was coming out on current-generation consoles. We've gotten a bit of clarification on that item. We asked Deep Silver if the Wii U counted as a current-gen console in their eyes, and got a solid "nope" in response. Nintendo fans can either take that as a compliment ? they're in the next hardware generation already ? or a slight. Regardless, they're going to have to sit this one out ? at least for the foreseeable future. http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/03/15/saints-row-iv-isn-39-t-coming-to-wii-u.aspx ------- More bad new for Wii U owners. Oh well.
Blackhearted
Sounds like another case of lazy ass 3rd party dev.
compl3x
Or they don't think porting the game to the WIi U is worth the effort because the install base of the Wii U is so low.
Blackhearted
And yet that install base wont grow if they don't get off their lazy asses and give people more reasons to buy the thing. Surely if they have people smart enough to program an entire game, they have people smart enough to figure out something that simple.
compl3x
It's not Deep Silver/Volition's responsibility to entice consumers to buy a Wii U. It is Nintendo's job to entice devs/pubs to make games for their platform(s). The money and man-hours it takes to port isn't trivial. They are a business and if they don't anticipate a profit then they aren't going to bother.
Blackhearted
I wasn't referring to them alone in the second post. It's 3rd parties in general who are too lazy to do anything.

And I dispute that it is laziness at all. If there was money in it then I am sure they [3rd parties] would do it. This is a bad look for Nintendo. It is a company that is already viewed as having a poor relationship with 3rd party devs/pubs.
ahhell
To be fair, when they started the dev the Wii-U was just a rumor. Porting a game takes a long time.
